I unplugged back in Nov. 2018 and I thought it would be difficult to keep myself entertained without the TV. At first I sort of missed watching Angels and Ducks games but after a few weeks I found it surprisingly easy to live without it. In my mind network television died a long time ago and cable followed shortly thereafter when all the science and history shows I used to watch were replaced by the cheap-to-produce reality programming. Returning the cable box and saving $120 a month were pretty liberating too!
Growing up in a 3rd world country, we didn't have 24/7 electricity let alone cable. My only entertainment was the library across my house with tones of history and poetry books. Now at age 25 the only TV in the house is so my husband plays video games and watch old 90's shows. I have a large collection of books all around the house.
You also pick apart movie plots that other people don’t see and then they get mad at you for pointing it out. And I don’t mean nitpicking technicalities or pointing out obscure facts...but logical actions of the character and plot lines.
My wife and I was just talking about this last night. We live rural, work from home, never really go to town other than shopping. I feel like I'm watching a clown show from 100 miles away
So ironic that I was bitching when I was a kid because we never had cable, we were poor, single mom and all that, but we read books, a lot of them, and spent a lot of time building treehouses, exploring the creek, going swimming etc. I grew up in the late eighties/ early nineties. Probably the last generation of kids like that, AOL came out when I was in highschool, so I kind of straddled two worlds.
Oh I played my fair share of GameBoy Color & Nintendo 64 with friends & cousins, and later Rock Band etc, just lamenting the seeming loss of wonder in kids. Their personalities are hooked up to a device, I know kids that won’t eat unless they have iPads in front of them with a show on.
I haven't watched traditional TV for 15 years, and my primary news source has been the Donald since I discovered it on Reddit, and now here primarily.
Never got in to social media, played around with myspace a bit back in the day and only ever used Facebook for business/advertising, which it was particularly good for.
I got a very similar impression of TV while staying in a hotel room in Vegas with my husband and dog coming back from an emergency trip to California in January 2018.
While watching TV, I saw:
fast food / candy / restaurant ads
drug pushing ads - no doubt the medications that people take because they eat the crap that was advertised
ambulance chasing lawyer ads, no doubt because of the side effects of taking all those drugs
It was mind-numbing. This is what America is?
Only good thing from that TV watching foray was discovering Forensic Files.
I straight up cracked at the age of 11, started throwing temper tantrums at these fake ads and crap. I also was instantly repulsed by kids shows then too, and started hiding remotes so my sister wouldn't watch TV when I was in the room. I finally figured out why im repulsive to kids TV now because of the societal engineering. I moved on to video games and now I just work all day lol. But anyways, Disney channel and Nick are all just extremely stupid sitcoms or garbage animated shows, and the commercials are just trash toys voiced by ladies with nothing for boys (also drives me nuts). IMO, anything made after Phineas and Ferb is dead to me.
Especially local news! Trusted local faces speaking the trusted local accent. Saying over and over "novel coronavirus," death toll, and hospitalized for covid. Showing footage of ICUs, and talking about cases of children on respirators.
All using information and narratives approved by MSM conglomerates.

I cut the cord around 2015 and would never go back. Unfortunately we ended up paying for Sling mainly so ex could watch CNN and HGTV which, in hindsight, was a mistake.
I stopped local tv news over 20 years ago. I never got into Cable News other than Fox News and it was never a daily thing. It was only when there was something breaking. I haven't watched any "live" tv for over 20 years, I download what I want to watch and use Bitchute, Odysee and YouTube for streaming stuff. I prefer to read and can see bull shit coming miles away.
I download a few shows from the internet, and have watched TV that way for probably about the last 15-20 years. I read things on forums, watch YouTube (though there's not much worth watching there anymore except frivolous stuff).
Didn't regularly watch TV for a very long time... At one point I'd stay up late surfing the net with Comedy Central on, watching Space Ghost and late night comedians and stuff...
100%, we got rid of cable in late 2019 (just in time!) and I ditched FB back in 2015 and the only social media I have is telegram and some .win pages. My parents on the other hand will not unplug and both got vaxed.... even with my mom following Q and knowing the evils of big pharma. They are still convinced that they will die if they catch the wuflu, it is sad, and I really don't understand it... but I am not bombarded with the b.s. thousands of times a day.
Agreed even if you watch Fox which is reasonably one of the better stations the level of demoralization and fear mongering is so blatant I feel like it would break the average normie and they always twinkle a little bit of hopium in their to keep you tuning in like the dinner mint after a terrible meal.
I think we all feel that way —just mystified on how the facts never cause them to stop and think that maybe what they believe is wrong. I’ve asked myself that question so many times, I can’t count.
