You know what, why didn't anyone in the NJ Republican Party figure out this seat was ripe for taking? That's their job. That's their main job - finding and supporting candidates. Time for a little housecleaning, dust off the old rinos in the local, state and national parties and toss them out.
While I'm on the subject, one young one that needs to go asap is Ronna the Rino.
I have thought exactly this. If I ever did run, i would start off by saying, "if elected i would plan to do x, y, z. And just so you know, I will willingly tell you in my younger years i had my fair share of consensual, non-committal intercourse and did drive home from the bars a few times i probably shouldn't have. Previously i have served this country overseas and am proud of my service, now i want to serve my fellow Americans once again."
Lots of people have perfectly clean backgrounds. I have to get a full criminal background check every year for a junior high school I volunteer at teaching computer science. It comes back clean each year, and there are lots of people who wouldn't get jobs if their background checks didn't come back clean. I've had two jobs that did full criminal and even financial background checks in the process of hiring.
Adultery and crimes for which you were never charged aren't in a background check. Doesn't mean there aren't people in your life w pictures of you dressed as Hitler or waving a confederate flag drunk on SoCo or something
Well, good for me that I've never committed adultery, dressed up as Hitler, or waved the Confederate flag around. Seems pretty simple to not do stupid shit like that. π€·ββοΈ
I never said I don't have dirt if it came to me running for office. I've smoked weed, am not Christian, go to AA meetings sometimes. Typically that's not the kind of candidate who would even win mayor. If you want to discuss such things I'll be happy to, I'll own up to such things, and you're right that such things are often relatable, and addiction is a disease that affects all sorts of people across all spectrums. But when you set the very low bar of not committing adultery (which wouldn't keep you from owning a gun) or not dressing up as Hitler (still wouldn't stop one from owning a gun), it's easy to be squeaky clean.
Well, your version of clean and shiney is "not committing adultery or dressing up as Hitler," that's an easy bar to beat. Never said I didn't have dirt if I were running for office, voters don't seem to like people who sometimes go to AA or are not Christian. Those are two right there that are my "dirt" I'll readily own and discuss if you want. It's not dressing up as Hitler, but I suppose it's still something a lot of people may not appreciate in their political candidates. It's just that those things have nothing to do with background checks or even job applications in most cases. And I can also easily buy a gun, because such things wouldn't prevent me from practicing the second amendment.
FBI estimated, according to VeteransToday.com, over 80% of Congress [persons] are compromised, most being pedophiliacs.... So apparently one doesn't need to have a clean slate to represent their constituents (or handlers)?
Is it just a coincidence that an anagram for "Ed Durr" is "rudder"?
rudder (noun) - any means of or device for governing, directing, or guiding a course, as a leader or principle:
His ideas provided a rudder for the new company.
We need a code word for any candidate from here. Tippy top is good. If you are from here and need our vote throw out tippy top whenever you can and we will know.
I'm disagreeing with the clean background in this regard:i
it's different than what you think.
I have background checks for work. No big deal.
Politics goes through your personal history.
Ever been drunk and said something inflammatory? Ever screamed at a football game? Ever parked in a handicapped spot.? Ever played pranks on neighbors?
Ever not pick up your dogs shit? Ever got a speeding ticket? Ever tailgated and had an illegal substance?
All of this is what they will twist to fit a narrative.
So as I said, forget the background. Go out there and open up, own up to not bring perfect. Relate to the majority of people who have done the same things
Besides the FBI coming to my house for attending J6 (Hi Mike π ) I havenβt had a parking ticket or a traffic stop in more than a decade. When Mike told my husband he was there to speak to me, he lolllllled.
This is wonderful. I love his spending list.

Nobody has a clean background history though.
By design, there are so many contradictory laws enacted, that every living soul has a whole telephone book full of infractions to sift through.
Just get involved and do your bit at whatever level your skills and honour allow :)
You don't need a clean background.
You need to be honest and speak about whatever it is that you're ashamed or embarrassed by.
People relate to that

Every living soul has multiple infractions? I will wager you 1 BTC against this claim sir.

Personally i have less respect and much suspicion for anyone so shiny. Most dirt is relatable and should be owned instead of deflected and buried

Yeahhh... That's not how it works at all.
I mean my life would be great for a podcast or a book, but definitely not for politics. That's all I'll say on that :P
Lol come chill already
Lmao that uber drive would be a fortune and I know I'm gonna get shitfaced. Maybe I'll rent out a place for the night pm me let's do this
