Overheard one of our customers talking to my boss about Ford halting production of combustion engines by or around 2030, and GM in 2035. They're going to switch to producing ONLY electric vehicles.
This was probably inevitable that they would try to do this but it makes me really angry. Electric vehicles are practically useless in northern states during winter, and probably 100% useless in Alaska almost year-round. Only combustion/gas powered engines are able to start in sub-zero temperatures. The car manufacturers know this. They don't care. They're most likely getting pushed by global elites and climate change idiots to force this on us.
Sorry for the MSM link, but this is basically what I heard: https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/13/gm-ford-are-all-in-on-evs-heres-how-dealers-feel-about-it-.html
Also it's kind of old news from 2021 but this is the first I've heard of it. Most likely they're trying to keep it on the down-low so people don't start boycotting them, etc.
There are many things that could happen between now and 2030/2035.
If these globalists and the Great Reset aren't stopped soon, the halt in production of combustion engines won't very high up on your list of concerns.
Just virtue signalling. Anything outside of the 5 year plan is irrelevant.
My neighbor friend said we don't have the power grid to support all these huge brands going electric.
I agree, but they'll force it anyway and not care if it puts strain on the grid. Look what they're doing in California as proof. Too much strain on the grid but they refuse to reduce usage.
are they gonna start breeding .... "mustangs" ....? lol
lame ass joke. woke up not long ago - sydney, aus - sorry
Nah there will be a black market for Dodge/Chrysler parts for trucks.
yeah 100 on that bro!!! think machinery! i wonder how much tech IP is owned which would stem to earth works machinery, recycling plants, etc...
If you think there are long lines at gas stations, just wait when you have cars lined up for days waiting for a charge, lol
If the world hasn't changed to the point where this is irrelevant by 2030 we will have much bigger problems.
59 years old here. Bought the last vehicle I'll ever buy last November. A 2005 Jeep Wrangler. Jeep 4.0 straight 6 w/157K miles. Should be good for another 150K miles which I will never hit. Easy to fix, parts everywhere, goes anywhere. Sucks the gas like there is no tomorrow, maybe 11 MPH if I'm lucky. No problems as my standard driving distance is rarely more than 100 miles from home. Ford retiree, I refuse to pay as much for a new vehicle as I could buy a house for. Especially one that you have to plug in.
They're idiots obeying the government.
Toyota seems to be all in on PHEVs ... those make the most sense if you have to have electric vehicles (which we don't).
Toyota does have some golden second-hand petrol vehicles though. Designed to last.
The vast stupidity of 'electric' is, they cannot charge them in many states NOW. They are committing suicide by 'stupid'.
Coal and natural gas.
Coming from a MAJOR transportation vehicle builder very close to top leadership, a pledge of this magnitude will require Ford to start retooling almost imminently. This will be obvious in year end reports. I call bullshit. These statements are to get in favorable position for federal cash. Nothing more.
Horseshit they literally just released the 7.3 V8 lol
If you could find a truck carrying the Godzilla is the problem
So new combustion engine companies should be setting up shop. There will be high demand for their products!!
Laughs in Dodge But in all seriousness, I don't think the cabal is going to be around this time next year, much less in 2030. So when everything get's deregulated and all the lies about global warming come out into the open, this plan is going to change.
So don't worry about it. Right now they're obeying their overlords. In a few years, they'll be back to worrying about making cars and trucks people will actually buy rather than worried about emissions and all that horse crap.
I guess we'll find out in 2030. But there has been a long history of companies in general saying they will stop doing 'X' but then continue to do it. Or promise to do 'Y' and do the opposite.
Companies care more about money than any social issues. If the sales/demand of gas engines remains high then they'll continue to make/sell them.
People have been and will continue to scream bloody murder about oceans rising, ozone increasing, acid rain, nuclear bad, running out of oil, etc.
Meanwhile, we just dig deeper for oil, we still use aerosols, acid rainstorms that melt your face and cause famine don't exist, and nuclear energy is probably the cleanest most reliable form of energy humans have discovered.
All that said , what is happening is the government has a noose around the neck of manufactuerers and a boot on the chair ready to kick. Constant mandates and regulations have strangled/stifled humanity from the start.
There are SO MANY reasons to keep electric vehicles a SMALL percentage of the overall fleet. For instance,
Long before 2030, I expect this looming disaster to become clear to Ford, to every other automaker, and to the general public. This is another HUGE mistake being pushed by government money & incentives that will further kneecap America and the West if not ended soon. Of course, for those at the top who are pushing this, it's not a mistake; it's a very profitable part of the plan.
Bye bye Ford! It’s almost like knowing the day you will die.
To be replaced by water powered perpetual motion engines no doubt.
Literally back to steam engines, eh?
Dumb shits. That is going to bite them in the ass.
I kind of like the looks of the Toyota Tacoma and Toyota 4Runner. What portion of those are American made?
commie lol
Northern state? No problem, climate change has got ya covered.
lol I bet that's what they're expecting, but our winters have been as cold as ever.
dont hold your breath. I call this bullshit that makes good PR. Unless the complete electrical grid and local distribution are pulled and replaced and new exotic sources of power is found.
You are looking at many trillions to beef up the grid and there is simply not enough generation.
I wont even get into the batteries and the minerals needed......
Only way would be the great reset and agenda 2030....there is that 2030 again.
If we look at cuba,Cuba, should be able to keep our cars for the next 50 years. Not that we need to,if we don't buy their crap, they will be gone.
Your not free now your just less oppressed at the moment
