If he is to return to the office, he will either need to be elected again, or appointed. The Speaker route is a means to do so legally.

Biden is the head of an occupation government, and the executive power of the legitimate government in exile is distributed among the devolution staff. Trump communicates and gives orders to them through unofficial channels, making him the de-facto shadow president. In my opinion, devolution will end with the removal of the Biden occupation regime and the appointment of an interim President (my money right now is on Chuck Grassley). The interim President will be the one to carry out the arrests we have been waiting for, after which he will step down to hand the Presidency back to Trump via the speakership.
And the sweet part is, Trump will be able to pretend he had nothing to do with any of it. No one will be able to call it a "coup".
