Stalling tactics. Zelensky does not have any means to win against military with his current forces, so he's taking his time waiting for situation to deteriorate. Let's review what he did recently:
releasing criminals from jailhouses and arming them with firearms
announcing visa-free entry for mercenaries
placing battlestations in civilian building blocks for sweet tasty pics of "russians shooting civs with missile strikes"
actively encouraging civilians to arm themselves with molotovs, take arms and engage russian troops. That would be suicidal, but makes a nice photo for CNN.
complete abandon of support of people in kyev. no evacuation organized, no supply lines established, only ammunition and military vehicles going in.
massive witch-hunts. People starting to shoot each other suspecting spies in every neighbour.
It's not about winning, it's about optics. He wants chaos in kyev in order to pull more europeans into engagement.

These aren't peace talks, they are demands that amount to dismantling of the globalist elements with their country. In short, Putin just turned the Ukraine into a white hat zone.

If NBC news is saying something like this, then it is completely, 100% safe to assume they are lying, of course; and that the accurate truth is that peace talks have not stalled but are simply paused momentarily while both sides digest that stage and prepare for the next stage. You know, as USUALLY HAPPENS during peace talks.
I tend to agree with you. I believe nothing I see of read these days without doing some cross source vetting, and filtering through my gut feelings using some common sense, which according to my spousal unit I am totally lacking. I just talked to my normie "I like Trump but maybe its good Biden won to heal the country" friend and he kept interjecting how stupid Biden is for not nuking Russia already. Then family comes in and starts crying about the cruel tactics they're using while simultaneously laughing at how underwhelming Russia's military is (oh, but MY theory is insane, they say).
