...the truth has painful side effects....
I came to that same conclusion in high school. I think they knew back then that I was gonna be a problem.
And who enforces their dictates?
Like a puppet show.
Atomizing? What do you mean? Like disintegration?
I have never heard that definition of atomization before.
However, the metaphor is valid. "Ape alone, weak. Apes together strong."
When I hear politicians say the words "democracy" I substitute it with the word "kleptocracy," and it whatever they are talking about makes more sense. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kleptocracy
Ding, ding!
Hence why we are sending billions to Ukraine.
I don't ask for the governments permission now. FUCK THE GOVERNMENT!
We out number the government; you gotta remember that.
Alien to human: "Why do you have to pay to live on the planet you were born on?"
This.
Add "distill alcohol" to the list.
Hell, it seems you need permission to just to drink alcohol.
Wait, we're not allowed to collect rain water? This is simultaneously new to me and also ridiculously stupid if true.
I recently learned just how bad it has become when we discovered we are not allowed to build a barn on a piece of property we just bought in our town that does not have a “primary residence” on it. It’s agricultural, with large pasture area we would like to continue to bush hog, and need somewhere to store the tractor. The zoning board denied our variance request. I’m stunned. Guess we are going to have to roll up our sleeves and get involved in local government. Ridiculous.
No, think of it as a good thing.
Sometimes things look like they are bad but they offer an opportunity that will enrich your life.
Now you get to meet people, become part of the community, and keep the commies out.
I know you are right.
You don't have to today either if you aren't a pussy.
You don’t need to not be a pussy, just not incompetent. Almost all of these items have ordinances you need to clear (passed at the town/city level) and are largely formalities. If you don’t like that the ordinances, run for local office and get rid of them, pretty simple honestly.
Just because you gain an office doesn't make the dissolution of regulations and ordinances simple or easy.
It’s very easy, odds are whoever you oust are the ones who wrote them and you can essentially vote to eliminate them overnight
If I recall correctly there were some problems relating to a child's lemonade stand.
Here in NY you're supposed to collect taxes for (((them))) if you have garage sale....
U wanna use the queens land? You pay for it.
Grow food? Pretty sure a garden doesn’t need approva
What they don’t know, they don’t know.
I live in a neighborhood but in the county not city limits, in the south. I collect rain water in a bucket for my new garden. Heck we aren’t “supposed to have chickens” either but I recently found out (as did the whole neighborhood, lol) that a couple of folks have one or two, because one got out and was wandering the neighborhood. Everyone except 1 Karen thought it was pretty funny that it was just taking a stroll down the street visiting neighbors and great that someone had chickens.
Who would want to join a HOA? And who wouldn’t know they were in one?
I doubt that happens much, if at all (complete retards being an exception).
Real estate transactions require the seller to give the buyer a copy of the CC&R's prior to closing. If the buyer choses not to read them or have someone explain it to them, then that's their fault.
Unless you're in Houston, which has no zoning.
True. But it's still rather chaotic compared to most other inner cities. Trust me, I've been there.
You don’t need to ask for permission now either.
