Musk has it right. A degree of anonymity is vital to the Twitter ecosystem (satire accounts, for one example). However, each user must be verified as an actual person, of legal age to use the platform (as defined by law or TOS).

Huckabee might be an alright guy and what he says would make sense in a society of honorable peers, but that isn’t this society. We’re under tyrannical communist oppression, so of course some truth tellers are going to prefer anonymity. Did Huckabee miss the announcements of the DHS and DOJ militarizing themselves to attack truth tellers? Boomer Huckabee is in denial, thinking the Information War and the Early 21st Century Corruption Crisis are a John Wayne movie where everyone walks like a man and talks like a man.
You're correct, although I would add a caveat: the tyrannical communist oppression we're seeing is the last spasms of a dying beast. Huckabee's proposal is for the society to come, not the one we see now.
And you're right about the truth tellers, they must be able to operate undercover. But they too must be verified as real people.

If you think anything you do on the net is anonymous you're a fool. Back in the 90s I was a system admin and frequented IRC. I guess you could say I was a white-hat channel warrior. My record was getting 3 people fired from their jobs and 5 kids in trouble with their parents. People learned not to fuck with me cause I hit you where it hurts most.

People need to go back and think about how our communication went completely out of control instead of trying to keep this failure going.
And one of the major reasons this absolutely must end is there is no balance between authentication and anonymity. None. Zero. You are either identified and thus trackable or you are not. The only possibility is to have a 3rd party authenticate and TRUST that that 3rd party won't spill your details to anyone who asks. You already know how well that kind of thing has worked out. If you don't, I ask you this one question: Do you really believe that all of these countless software vulnerabilities and database hacks and leaks were not allowed to happen on purpose?
The only real solution at this point is to destroy twatter completely and teach people how to take back their ability to communicate. The .win's are a good example of this in action, but there needs to be more and smaller self-built communities in order for truly functional communication to happen.
Good algorithms can easily spot likely bots and banish them to captcha hell.
