If you have a baby, you can get a recipe from your pediatrician. At minimum, check the sites online that have posted modern, better for your baby recipes.

I would trust something older, they change things to be deliberately bad for you these days
AMEN!!
I’ll be the first to say it...The sweetened condensed milk factory didn’t kill itself...
Just a thought: You might want to revisit your notion that modern = better. It sometimes is not.
And older is not always better either. There are sites out there with nutritionist approved homemade formulas.
Newer doesn't mean better either.
Agreed. 'Newer' usually means more chemicals and less nutrition. There simply isn't a better model than what Nature has already provided us. Man-made (anthropogenic) processed foods is always inferior to what Nature already has.
Then link or share some instead of just gatekeeping.
I think that guy is a shill from Buyden’s disinformation (you can’t share the truth) campaign.
Yeah I figured it was a shill.
You seem to be suggesting that I am implying that older is** always** better. I did no such thing, on the contrary: I wrote that it (modern) sometimes is not better, which therefore means that sometimes it is. QED.
I most certainly did not. I was fed this homemade formula as a baby. I also never laid eyes on a carseat or even a seatbelt until I was grown. I was put out in the sun to get sunburned over and over. Now I have to worry about skin cancer. But my butt was wrapped in nice, soft, cotton diapers and never in wads of paper and plastic. There are a lot of things done back then that are fine now but a lot that are not so great.
Tried those cloth diapers and my kids (despite changing and cleaning three times as often) got bloody raw butts that no salve could coat enough so had to quit using them real fast. Recipes though older are generally more trustworthy.
If you don't trust your pediatrician, and especially if they're pushing vaccines for babies or anybody else, you need a new pediatrician.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends COVID-19 vaccination for all children and adolescents 5 years of age and older. It has 67,000 members in primary care and sub-specialist areas. It has the largest pediatric publishing program in the world, with more than 300 titles for consumers and over 500 titles for physicians and other healthcare professionals. The AAP News is the academy's official news magazine,[7] and Pediatrics is its flagship journal.[8]
And AAP is part of an umbrella of pediatric organizations that have great sway over pediatricians. Finding a pediatrician that anyone can trust is an up-hill battle. Even visiting a pediatrician to interview can be a perilous endeavor, especially if your child is not vaxxinated. For some pediatricians, this is grounds to contact CPS for the possible removal of your children.
Agreed there
The entire profession of pediatrics was invented for the sole purpose of vaccinating children. Prior to that, a family doctor took care of an entire family. I have a clinic that take care of my whole family. My grandparents had Carnation milk and Caro as babies and they were just fine!
And on a side bunny trail…. Just as family doctors took care of everything, the church used to be the welfare, social services, the pastors or priests were also judges and led in battle (see civil war history)
Yes, church feels pretty pointless because it's been stripped of worthwhile, satisfying work. Sitting on a bench telling everyone you're fine is not near as fulfilling as helping people.
Personally, I am pleased to see these home remedies out and about. Dependence on the so-called health care system has brought us to this point.
Fine, then go look for a recipe that isn't older than your grandmother.
What is your qualification for this dismissive and quite frankly clickbait post? Are you a paediatrician, a nurse, a midwife?
Clickbait? Get lost.
These were tried and true recipes that actually worked without poison chemicals.
I disagree with you. I think the 60 year old formula is probably better for the babies.
13 oz evaporated milk, 20 oz water, 2 tablespoons Karo syrup.
I would however replace the karo though, that recipe was followed before the days of gmo. I would find a natural syrup instead that is packed with minerals.
So long as there is no nut allergies, black walnut trees among about 15 different trees besides sugar maple can be tapped for their syrup and everything from black walnut trees have tannins which are natural antibiotic, antifungal, antiparasitic, among other healing and health benefit powers. My farm is loaded with them so I did some reading.
I agree. I was thinking of pure maple syrup.
MISSING THE SHITPOST FLAIR
WTF is it to you anyway? Don't like the post, don't read it!
And I CERTAINLY wouldn't trust my pediatrician at this point. No, I trust these 60 year old recipes much more than anything else right now. At least if I make it myself, I know what's in it.
I go through the extra effort of turning off community styling for these posts. A lot of people here are not paying attention. I find it hard to believe only 4-6% will be lost forever.
yes sadly, that's a very low estimate.
Ditto!
Right
"posted modern, better for your baby recipes" that line is a big stretch and why are you on here pretending to be the formula police? People can decide for themselves. I would say get fucked, but I think you already are.
Are you suggesting our grandparents didn't know what they were doing? Wow, it's amazing how we all got here. Everything from the food pyramid to the products bought for babies is suspect. The FDA's food pyramid was fashioned after corporate interests and not necessarily for the best health guidance.
Every day we find out the LIES coming from so-called 'experts'. You mention seeking pediatrician advice. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) also recommends COVID-19 vaxxination for all children and adolescents 5 years of age and older.
It's turning out grandma and grandpa knew far more than you are giving them credit for. Maybe its time to learn more from them before its too late.
Since I'm most likely old enough to be your grandmother, I would never suggest we don't know best.
You shouldn't blindly assume. The soap box can be a slippery place.
LOLOLOL!! Pot meet kettle.
With wrinkles and silvery gray too.
Grocery stores in my neck of the woods are all fully stocked with baby formula. Guess these alleged ‘shortages’ are the next ‘ivermectin’ sensation.
Toilet paper.
There's a good recipe that dates back a few hundred thousand years.
Breast milk.
Karo and water... sugar and water, lots of things work, if 'your' Baby won't drink 'this' then try 'that'.
That's where we got the term 'sugar-teat' from, it was a false poke, a sugar water mix inside a small skin like a wineskin, so kids could eat without Mama.
Yeah there are plenty of options, if you have a trusted doctor - and most people do not - try them, otherwise there are many simple and honest recipes.
Did you see some of the crap thats in those 'newer' formula recipes. I did some research.... chemicals made in China.
Leave it up to the moms to decide which recipe they want to try. They know their babies better than anyone else.
Things were better back then before things got tampered with with unnatural ingredients. So, in answer if that was directed to me, No!
60 years Go Autism was less than 1 in 20,000. So, maybe you should rethink that bullshit
Should probably have some fats added one would think.
You act like all mothers are able to breastfeed. Unfortunately, some can't produce milk or enough milk. I'm not arguing against homemade formula, just that there has been a stride or two in nutrition since John Kennedy was president.
That's simply not true and is a modern myth.
I know two young ladies who are using formula. They told me it's because their babies are "allergic" to dairy products and such. Instead of working it out, mom not eating certain things, etc, they choose to go with the formula. Lactation consultants, nurses, drs all hold responsibility for this formula dependency. If I was those girl's moms, life would've been different. Oh! Also, some of these babies who have trouble latching on may have a slight tongue tie. It doesn't seem like this is looked for now a days. Nursing is Work! It hurts in the beginning for sure. I think these women are not properly informed or helped.
It's frustrating to watch all the actual misinformation about breastfeeding being spread by lactation consultants, nurses, and the general public who simply just don't know shit about breastfeeding in this country. 90% of women who think they can't breastfeed actually can, they are just being told the wrong information, and don't get proper support or education. Society wants women to formula feed.
If I were legit unable to breastfeed my baby in these times, I'd be all over the breastfeeding boards looking for an organic breastfeeding mom near me to sell me some breastmilk. And if I was still breastfeeding during these times, I'd be donating breastmilk like crazy.
And, each nurse pushes a difference strategy. Had all three of my kids in same small hospital. Different nurse each time pushed completely different ideals for nursing.
Goats milk is an awesome supplement and when I had dairy allergies as a kid I would drink our goats’ milk. It made a world of difference.
I have personal experience with this. Following are my observations based on my own 24 months of round-the-clock breastfeeding of my children, and the observations and conversations with multiple friends who shared their breastfeeding journey.
Your body is hormonal and emotional. You have to overcome your own reluctance and fear of the experience. If you don't, it'll likely not work.
Most mothers I knew did breastfeed successfully with the proper education, motivation and assistance. Help is out there if you need it.
Breastfeeding is a strange experience that can be off-putting if not properly prepared. There is a strong psychological and sometimes physiological deterrance in the beginning. You have to overcome the following:
~It feels weird and embarrassing at first
~It can be uncomfortable or even hurt in the beginning
~Some people criticize you if you do/or if you don't - stigmas both directions
~There's worry that breast shape and size will suffer afterwards
~Afraid hubby won't like seeing it, some men are off-put by it
~Afraid won't produce adequate, quality milk
~Ties you to the baby as the sole means of sustenance, leaving you feeling that you cannot leave child's side for more than a few hours at a time.
In the end, after persevering and seeing the healthy benefits to both baby and mom and the unexpectedly beautiful bond that is created between the two from the experience, you will be forever glad you did it.
Amen plus nothing is better or more nutritious for your baby
Like those confused men who think they are women because “I can’t understand basic biology”
OH?
Well my wife had difficulty until she fixed her diet then had a bumper results. Just old pre Kennedy know how passed down.
I had mastitis with my oldest daughter (very painful) with stringy bloody clotted milk and the nurse had me put wetted down black tea bags on my nipples and it took away the pain and made everything work just fine and cleared it up quickly.
From my perspective as a father, there is no better way to feed a baby then from a healthy mother. Its the effort of our life as parents to make and raise the most healthy babies possible. We were lucky and practiced rhythm for 5 years and got pregnant when we wanted. I base a lot of our luck on us making sure our bodies were detoxed and we ate as organic as possible and got rid of toxic cleaners for 6 months or so before. My wife had problems making milk for 3 or 4 days but was making enough. Started making an old cookie recipe passed down along with some other particular foods and it was like turning on the faucet with the pump…. Biggest problem was when she quit breastfeeding, it took a while to stop producing.
She could have sold the extra milk or given it away, there’s a market for it now for moms who aren’t able to nurse. Some people are even making soap and lotions with human breastmilk.
