First, the tank probably has the same level of protection from the outside as the passenger compartment. Then at least the same amount of protection towards the passenger compartment. Any explosion that can damage the fuel tank would probably turn everyone inside to jelly. But, if somehow the tank does become damaged and the occupants survive, the tank is filled with a material that will severely limit its ability to explode. It can still leak (slowly) and catch fire, just not explode.

The Beast was designed from the from the ground up to be fully uparmored. You would be very surprised driving it. I don't have experience driving the Beast, but I have driven a lot of BMW 745il's that are fully armored and if you don't open the doors, you wouldn't know it was armored by the way it drives. These BMW's are the diplomat cars you see on TV at special political events. The US State department had a bunch of them in Baghdad. I drove almost every one of them. They are awesome and I wish I had one.
