Neat. So where's the evidence? This is the second post in half a day, everyone is bouncing up and down about how they're killing us with this 'toxin' and not a single link about how it causes any harm.
Is it because someonein California (where everything is known to cause cancer) is looking for a payday?
What's next? The evil plot to kill us all with the dangerous additive dihydrogen monoxide?
Dyhydrogen monoxide is killing people.its a fact! The Minnesota lakes are overflowing with this stuff and 4 people were directly linked to dying from it last year. It is known to prevent oxygen from getting to the lungs!
Yeah, I'm waiting to hear on the "toxicity" of this as well from the lawsuit and since nothing I've found gives specifics, it sounds like its just trying to grab headlines. Route of administration matters. If they are trying to say it's toxic from ingesting based on inhalation toxicity well this isn't going to make it far.
It might be related to this post from some site called Center for Food Safety from six years ago that links to a now-missing .pdf from Mars abut how they were on a five year plan to phase out TiO2, linked in the above article.
The same news article also links to post by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service detailing that the EU has been forcing companies to remove TiO2 from their food starting back in February of this year.
I'm not saying the EU is the be-all end-all of things, but hey, more DNA-damaging chemicals just for those people that didn't get the clot shot, amirite?
Very nice, a good start. Thank you. If I have time when I get home, maybe I'll see if I can help... But I'll warn you that it's unlikely during the week and I'll probably forget by the weekend!
You can't prove something is safe, you can only prove things aren't safe.
And even then it's convoluted, what's safe in one situation isn't in another. u/Elcycs mentioned dihygrogen monoxide (aka water) as a joke, but there have been instances of people literally drinking themselves to death with water. They OD'd on water...do you now ban water?
"Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is commonly applied to enhance the white colour and brightness of food products. TiO2 is also used as white pigment in other products such as toothpaste. A small fraction of the pigment is known to be present as nanoparticles (NPs)."
TOOTHPASTE.
But, but - also twinkies, chewing gum, coffee creamers, eggnog, powdered donuts, whey-based drinks...etc.
WHY SKITTLES, THEN?? What about all the rest of the foods?
SOUNDS PERSONAL. Maybe it is M&M's taking out the competition...
Yes, titanium dioxide is all over the place and I have also literally never heard of it being able to change DNA -- but also, something like that would take such a focused study that it's basically impossible to tell for sure.
You would have to isolate people from consuming or enjoying any other aspect of life to see that it was specifically titanium dioxide

Processed snacks such as Twinkies and powdered donuts.
Although not a food, oral supplements can also contain titanium dioxide.”
I don’t know if this article is correct BUT what I can tell you is skittles was a candy I used to keep in the house until I noticed my kids became overly wired, hyper and a tad crazy when they had them! Just Skittles! Fast forward to present day and my grandkids have the same reaction, just from Skittles!
I haven't so far seen a single medical pill that does NOT contain titanium dioxide. Open any insert and read, it is at the end of ingredient list and usual explanation is it's needed for pill pressing machine not to jam with other ingredients.

Excuse me are you a fucking dihydrogen monoixide denier??
Dyhydrogen monoxide is killing people.its a fact! The Minnesota lakes are overflowing with this stuff and 4 people were directly linked to dying from it last year. It is known to prevent oxygen from getting to the lungs!
Wake up, sheeple! It would be unstable at STP and simply evaporate into the air! That's what they want you to believe!

Unrelated but, there IS a recall on Skittles gummies (and Starbust gummies, and Life Savers gummioes) right now, due to metal shavings in them.
When I was looking for the link to that specific recall (I originally saw a notice when I was out grocery shopping) I came across several articles from over the weekend about a pending lawsuit against the candy company Mars over titanium dioxide.
It might be related to this post from some site called Center for Food Safety from six years ago that links to a now-missing .pdf from Mars abut how they were on a five year plan to phase out TiO2, linked in the above article.

And another: "Prof Maged Younes, Chair of EFSA’s expert Panel on Food Additives and Flavourings (FAF), said: “Taking into account all available scientific studies and data, the Panel concluded that titanium dioxide can no longer be considered safe as a food additive. A critical element in reaching this conclusion is that we could not exclude genotoxicity concerns after consumption of titanium dioxide particles."

Heard it was because someone's pecker turned rainbow colors doing the HB challenge... taste the rainbow 🌈
Maybe you can show us how “ safe “ it is ? I’m not being an ass, maybe contribute to helping us old people.
TiO2 is about as inert as any chemical.
It is why Titanium is so hard to refine.
You can't prove something is safe, you can only prove things aren't safe.

Rainbow was a warning label.

Nooooo, not Twinkies........
/despair
M&M and Skittles are made by the same company.
Hmmm. Well then, what is this really about?
Either this is somebody looking out for the American public or a lawyer looking to make a quick buck. I would say a bit of both.

Something really creepy about a candy that says "taste the rainbow" that can change DNA.
They look for any and all ways to kill us.
I believe it's called Soft skill
Good thing I don't eat that beyond high school. Used to love those.
It’s in many foods and other products, including cosmetics and skincare.

Maybe they spike them with meth.
Mix Skittles with purple drank, and you've got Trayvon Martin. just sayin'

Mutagen
Also this: Titanium Dioxide Sunscreen. Probably a load of other things as well: read the small print.
It's also in 'high hiding white' paints as an ingredient to increase opacity.
Poor Trayvon.
