When I first came here (about a year ago or so, but I lurked for awhile before I ever signed up. It was when there was still the Daily Wins posts) I just expected basically another "conspiracy board"...but it ended up being so much more
As I've stated before, I give alot of credit to this community for leading me to God
How are you doing with your battle today?
I'm doin good, about half an hour away from my 5th meeting in a row and when I get up tomorrow it'll be 2 weeks dry
DAMN! Good for you!! One day at a time, as they say. How exciting though! Just imagine what God has in store for you!
Well to be fair the first 9 of them I was in jail so that made it kind of easy to be sober π but, I been out since Thursday and haven't had interest in anything past a nip of nyquil to get to sleep
Oh I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Not an optimal place to go through detox and damn sure not safe! My mom got lucky because she went through hers basically asleep in the hospital. Granted, she'd fallen drunk & broke all her ribs on one side and had emergency surgery to remove spleen, then on & off vent, bed sores, etc etc. 5 months in 3 hospitals. FF to the counseling stage of 3rd hospital and I'm coming out of the grocery store one day when she calls me, "Amber these people are saying I'm an alcoholic!" She was pissed! Anyway, long story short the last 5 years of her life were some of the happiest of her whole life. You've got this, fren!
Glad to hear she found some peace from this invisible war before it was too late β€οΈ
Modern medicine has saved so many of our lives, as much as we don't trust it now.
I was pondering this very thing last night when a medical commercial came on. I was thinking, there has to be more good people than bad out there, imagine young people with dreams of discovering a medical miracle because all they want to do is help people. Then you got the rest of the eejits
Congratulations! I'm sure u/catsfive will have some good words for you too!
You are doing excellent! One day at a time. It makes my heart swell to hear this. Keep it up!
We're proud of you, that's a great achievement Fren.
when do they start giving out those chips.
You get a 24 hour the first meeting, then the next is 30 days and so forth
I keep mine in my wallet
u/WinsAnon drew in many newly awakened anons with a different approach - spreading the Good News!
Great carryover from another great (now defunct) forum, Voat.
Glad you got hooked!

Q drops are the red ball, anons are the moustraps, and the white balls are the memes!
Looks like one of them didn't go off...must be one of those "two more weeks" anons...
yuuup we're close to the tipping point.
4-6% of mouse traps never trigger
Heh....yeah, probably.
A cool feature you tube has is to slow down or speed up the post. Slow this to 0.25 and watch.
Great analogy u/TNBanjoMan!
The Great Awakening!!! Just like that!
Hundredth monkey appears to be 4 in mousetrap balls!
Great visual analogy
This is a brilliant analogy.
I love how itβs a red ball that sets it in motion.
Coming to God, as you marvelously put it, it THE experience of life. There is a "before" and an "after", because one is forever changed, in the best possible way. My own experience was life-altering and came when I asked God to show Himself to me, and not in an intellectual way, but an experiential one. He did, by showing me how much He loves me. But know, that I am nothing special, and by that I mean He loves all his creations equally. So if He loves everyone with the same powerful love, it is easier for us to do the same. It's all about the love, and the relationship.
Man, someone had a lot of time on their hands.
Oh, this is a good one. Took a while.
Clever punishment for the black hats at Gitmo perhaps?
Pedantry attack: Great Awakenings plural?
History has recorded several "great awakenings" ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Awakening
"Great Awakening refers to a number of periods of religious revival in American Christian history. Historians and theologians identify three, or sometimes four, waves of increased religious enthusiasm between the early 18th century and the late 20th century. Each of these "Great Awakenings" was characterized by widespread revivals led by evangelical Protestant ministers, a sharp increase of interest in religion, a profound sense of conviction and redemption on the part of those affected, an increase in evangelical church membership, and the formation of new religious movements and denominations.
Some of the influential people during the Great Awakening were George Whitefield, Jonathan Edwards, and Gilbert Tennent, and some of the influential groups during the Great Awakening were the New Lights and the Old Lights.[1][2][3] Pulling away from ritual and ceremony, the Great Awakening made religion intensely personal to the average person by fostering a deep sense of spiritual conviction of personal sin and need for redemption, and by encouraging introspection and a commitment to a new standard of personal morality. It incited rancor and division between old traditionalists who insisted on the continuing importance of ritual and doctrine, and the new revivalists, who encouraged emotional involvement and personal commitment. It had a major impact in reshaping the Congregational church, the Presbyterian church, the Dutch Reformed Church, and the German Reformed denomination, and strengthened the small Baptist and Methodist denominations. It had little impact on Anglicans and Quakers. Unlike the Second Great Awakening, which began about 1800 and reached out to the unchurched, the First Great Awakening focused on people who were already church members. It changed their rituals, their piety, and their self-awareness."
I'm roughly 11 years & 4 months sober; have been born again for about 25 years. What an amazing journey this has been. I think we are all grateful to be alive at this time in history. Praying every day is easier for you!
Good for you. I'm 34 years clean and sober, but I've been at it a long time. As you have probably found, sober living is much better and happier than the way we were living in the past. Hang in there, anon, more shall be revealed and it only gets better.
Yeah, a bit underwhelming. I'd like to see a stadium full of these go off.
