Question for anyone that can help with plantar faciitis.

Has anyone had any luck treating with something alternatively. My wife has been seeing a doctor for a long time iver this and it just gets worse. Thanks in advance for any wisdom. She has tried cbd with no luck.

Yep, I've had it a few times and wear the inserts for a while and it goes away.

I was a fitness instructor back in the 90's. I had a pretty severe case of plantar faciitis. I taught a lot of step classes. Nothing seemed to help. When I started teaching other types of classes, it went away. The most important thing I learned during my fitness career was what overuse syndrome is. What is it that your wife is doing daily that is causing the pain? It could be a fitness workout repeated to often, or some repetitive movement that is done while at work. Repeating the same movement daily over a long period of time wears on the ligaments, tendons, and joints.

Wrap your arches. Leave them on. I run, and dealt with this. I only improved when i left my wraps on all day, not just running..even to bed. I just kept them on until the pain went away. Youtube will show you how to wrap them.

This. I balled up a child's sock and put it in the arch of my foot. Then I wrapped my foot. Oh, the relief. Bliss. Only took a few days to heal after weeks of dealing with it. They sell special PF bands/socks you can put over your foot that has extra padding that goes in the arch but my arches are too high for those. Walmart, CVS, wherever foot care stuff is sold. Also they make a brace to wear at night that will keep the foot at a 90-degree angle that I've heard is helpful.

My mom has been going crazy with PF and think we might have found a really random solution. Some people have an inability to convert B6 into the usable form for the body which is P5P B6. It effects the body in many different ways but seems like it is really common to get PF, trigger finger, carpal tunnel. If you read through the reviews for the NOW brand P5P on amazon you can see it is like a miracle cure.

Anyways, my mom has been taking it for two weeks and this is the first time the PF has backed off after endless doctor visits and different attempted remedies. I also am now taking and also my wife and feeling really positive results for sleeping, anxiety, focus, energy.

I dealt with this for a long time and tried a lot of things to help- insoles, foot bands/balls, exercises, a brace that I wore overnight, even a supplement that was supposed to promote healing, etc. None of these helped me long term although each did give a little relief.

I was about to give up until I read this tidbit on a medical message board- it was so random- and this is what helped me to heal permanently (although my grown kids made fun of me mercilessly for it.) One doctor suggested getting two pairs of actual Crocs- the basic style- one pair for inside, and one for outside. Keep them on your feet all the time. Even if you're just getting up in the night to use the bathroom, slip on your inside pair of crocs. It took two weeks for the pain to go away fully and my family teased me for my ugly footwear, lol. But this did fix the issue for me and pf has not returned.

I concur. Hoka is the best. My Ortho dr also is the ortho for a local pro team. Not minors. He said get mountain climbing boots with a steel shank in the sole to walk around once you are out of the walking cast IF your P.F. is that bad which mine was.

I suffered from PF many years ago and was friends with a physical therapist. She gave me all of the usual recommendations for treating it and nothing worked for more than a day or two. At some point, I ran across a website for a PT clinic that recommended the ROTATIONAL HAMSTRING STRETCH. I began doing a set of 25 on each leg 3x a day. After a couple of weeks, the pain was almost gone. I found I could gradually begin reducing the number of times per day and then the number of times per week that I did the stretches, until I just needed them when I noticed a slight telltale pain. After a few months, I didn't really need them at all, but had discovered that they kept the little annoying back and neck pains away as well. Here is a link to a description of that stretch and others, but really, I think the hamstring stretch on its own will do it if you want to keep things simple. Dump the doctor and go to a Physical Therapist. He or she should be able to give your wife exercises that will help and will probably also recommend inserts to help support the arch.

I went to a chiropractor who, aside from doing spinal adjustments, gave me a posture brace (discrete soft cloth, not the exo-skeleton type) to gradually improve my alignment and posture. It's helped a lot, although it's taken a while. Also prescribed certain exercises that definitely help. I left them off for a while, and it slowly crept back. Started again, and now resolved to be more conscientious about it.

I'm guessing...does your wife walk barefoot...or in socks...when at home? If so, this is what's causing the problem. Buy two or three "memory foam" slippers (not the thin foam things at WalMart -- they're about $25-$30 a pair), and rotate them to make them last longer. The soles on these slippers are terrible, unfortunately, and will self-destruct in a few weeks. Deerfoam is one brand, and Stafford another, but I'm sure there are other brands. I get the "clog" style that's easy to slip on and off.

Another tip to make them last longer, and smell better, is to put a Dr. Scholl's heavy-duty insole inside them, to keep your feet from wearing through the liner and foam.

I had bad PF on both feet, and this cured the problem for me.

An alternative is shoes that have good arch support like Alegria. Get a pair just for wearing around the house. They are a little over $100. A pair, but they last for literal years. I've had mine for 4 years and just had to replace the insoles ($30.). Now I will wear them for years more.

I didn't have PF, but a ruptured tibial tendon. I actually lost arch in that foot. I now only wear Alegria and Dansko XP (they have the arch support). I have used the Dr. Scholls inserts from that machine set up they have. Those helped a lot until things healed more.

Get wraps and wear at night when sleeping - also get a lacrosse ball and work the affected area back and forth while watching TV or relaxing

23 years ago, I was in my mid-20s and walking like an 80 year old because of severe p.f. I started wearing orthotics and getting chiropractic treatment. Calf stretches may have helped as well (I had other pain areas, not just p.f.) Orthotics were a huge help, but I was in such bad shape, I had to wear them ALL THE TIME. If I took 5 steps without them, pain would start coming back. Eventually, I was able to walk barefoot again, and now I can even wear SOME shoes sometimes without orthotics, but most the time, I wear them. I still go to chiro and physio and massage therapy. I've come a long way, praise the Lord.

I had that ailment along with sciatica nerve pain that affected the entire left side of my body from the ankle all the way up to the neck and down my left arm. I tried so may shoes KURU, HOKA,etc. I even went to a chiropractor once a week for three months. I finally bought myself a pair of SAS Sandals. The style is called Relaxed. All of my foot pain and nerve pain is gone. I realized it after just two weeks of wearing my SAS sandals. They are expensive but so worth it for me. Sending prayers that you find what works:)

Castor oil is an anti-inflammatory and worked for me and another person I know. Also gets rid of heel spurs in case that's part of the problem (which it was for me). Cheap, too! You can buy it on Amazon if you can't find it anywhere else. You just rub it on the affected area once or twice a day. Took me and the other person each about a week to get back to normal.

I had it really bad for about 8 months last year. I did a number of things, so I don’t know if one worked better than the other but I totally see it as an all aboard mentality.

Get a foam roller and a tennis ball or get a pack of massage balls on Amazon, esp one with the spikes. Habe her massage the calf with the roller and balls. Find a spot that’s really tender and hold it there for 30-40 seconds. Then find another spot. The calf is the key. It controls so much more than we realize. Do that daily. Get a boot from cvs or pharmacy and wear it at night with the leg elevated. It might be painful as it’s gettirn used to it but keep wearing it. After about two weeks she’ll notice it’s getting better. The boot keeps your foot in the proper alignment for the torn tendon in the bottom of the foot to heal. It does take time so it won’t be an overnight fix. Also get some new shoes. I personally started using the New Balance Vongo? And literally my foot felt so much better at the end of the day. Expensive but oh so worth it. If she wears heels daily that can be a big part of the problem as your feet are in a plantarflexed position which isn’t natural for long term use and puts a lot of strain on the calves. Also work on strengthening the anterior tibialis muscles which are on the front of the lower leg, basically the shin muscles. Again your over powering calves are pulling on those torn tendons in the foot, stronger anterior tibs will help offset that. I would also suggest start doing hip thrusts on the floor to strengthen the glutes. The butt muscles help us with so many things daily, they aren’t just for looking good. Sorry it’s like a long ramble but I wish plantar fasciitis on no one. Except maybe democrats.

Try giving up night shade veggies. Takes about a month to clear the crystals with tart Cherry powder daily.

Frozen water bottle on bottom of foot at waking.

Stretch and hold the tires back towards the ankles. Hold and release. 5-10 stretches, at least 3x’s a day

Dr. Had my mom stand on the edge of the curb with ball of the foot on the curb while lowering the heel and then put weight on the foot til the arch felt a stretch. Same principle I suppose as the brace to wear that holds foot/ankle at right angles over night. It did fix her right up

1 mile barefoot walk a day or 20 mins a day on one of those personal exercise trampolines barefoot. Heal through the pain. Pain is an expert teacher walk through it. Try not wearing shoes as much as possible.

When she's sitting down doing nothing, get a couple golf balls and roll them around under her feet, of the golf balls are too much (painful) use tennis balls to warm them up and work her way to the golf balls.

Op, some years ago my wife had a foot issue and got a referral to see a foot doctor. The doctor (a podiatrist did a couple different treatments and ordered a custom orthotic insert to "help" while telling us the next step was a surgery should the orthotic not bring relief.

The situation continued to deteriorate with the foot. Through some circumstances, a different doctor (I want to say it was an orthopedic) unrelated to the podiatrist looked at the orthotic and advised us it was custom designed to apply more pressure to the specific area that it should have provided relief to. We sent the orthotic to a different place for it to be reformed to purpose and fired the podiatrist whom was trying to take a injury that could self heal and make it into one or more surgeries with permanent damage.

Bottom line, is your wife's doctor a podiatrist? If so, get a second opinion from a better trained more competent doctor specialization. Also do you know for certain your wife's doctor isn't just milking y'all for a guaranteed income steam? That does happen unfortunately as I described above.

I have it. Switched to wearing Oboz shoes exclusively, to strengthen the arches up. Turmeric and ibuprofen for inflammation, also Epson salt soaks. These together make a real difference. Also if overweight, weight loss makes a difference, as does foot posture, i.e. keep your feet straight, don't duck-walk.
