A CEO or Marketing head would likely have made that call to discontinue selling MP. It's my gut feeling that many of these large companies exhibiting woke behavior have either had a deliberate infestation of DS players in their executive ranks or the higher-ups have been bribed or threatened/terrorized by DS hired thugs.
These guys generally have golden parachutes so a company financial loss wouldn't matter to them much personally even if their compensation was tied to their performance. Besides, even if he may have provided input to the decision-making process, it's typically the CEO who steers the company ship. It's a game of shoving as many gold coins in their greedy little pockets before moving on to ravage the next firm.
Now, the threat of facing jail time might make someone jump to their death - be it from cooking the books or the threat of being exposed for some other heinous activities, either by one's own desires or through coercion from DS thugs, for example. He could also have been ready to blow some whistles, had his family threatened, etc, and been tossed out the window. Lots of possibilities.
