Hello Gulf state neighbor. One thing you can count on.... The Cajun Navy will be there to help with recovery before FEMA. I live near Houston and they are always the first non-locals on the scene to help. I love those guys and gals.

Ive looked into joining the Cajun Navy, they are run incredibly well. They are proof that people only think we need a big federal government when we can handle taking care of our fellow Americans.

For anyone that may require assistance, double check how the Cajun Navy gets reports and dispatches just in case you need assistance after the storm, i think it usually is from Facebook posts.

Yeah I I have a friend down in Florida. He tells me it looks like an average storm nothing to worry about if you’re properly prepared… According to him though the FL fake news is making it sound worse than it is 🤠

I grew up in South Carolina myself. Live in south Georgia now. They have power trucks lined up at a wal-mart in Brunswick GA already and have canceled all activities in our boonies area for Thursday already. And possibly closing my work. This may be a typical " storm" for "us" , but for some reason they are taking it to the extreme! Idk.

Haha, yes, climate change! I tried throwing a handful of cash into the wind gusts last night but I don't think it was enough. I'm going to the ATM later today to get more to appease the wind gods.

I disagree. This is something I am hearing a lot, and it concerns me. Florida is absolutely saturated and this storm is bringing unprecedented rainfall and winds far inland.

It’s going to be catastrophic.

Left Central FL at 5am heading to KY on a planned trip. Passed hundreds of buckets trucks, wood chippers and EMT trucks heading S on I-75. Also seen a hotel on GA/FL boarder with a parking lot filled with buckets trucks. Seems well coordinated and already pre staged. These are our true heroes driving into the eye of the Storm literally. God Bless you all......

Something they never tell you: Getting the grid back up is great and all, but if your roof was damaged and the inner walls/wiring/insulation in your house got soaked - they CANNOT turn the power back on to that house. You will have to do without unless and until you can strip the place down to the studs and completely rebuild it.

Also, there are a whole lot of new people in FL right now who don't have a clue what it's really like. That's going to be a problem, too.

Agree! I drove to Tampa and back to NC yesterday. 22 hours. But the staging is so apparent. I passed a few hundred bucket trucks etc.

Tampa bay area here; prepared as best can be. Need to lower pool water as we could be looking at minimum of 12-15" rain in 48 hours. House is surrounded by oak trees so praying they remain standing. Hoping Beach residents take this seriously and evacuate. Will definitely be ugly out there. Police not letting anybody on beaches without proof of ID. Will miss you guys while I'm offline.

I hope you have a chainsaw. If those oak trees come down you will need one. Good luck finding one if you don't already have one. I pray they don't come down on your home or car or you for that matter. Hugo came through downtown Charlotte back in the 90's. It was still a cat 1 punching over 90 mph winds sustained. Three and two hundred year old oak trees were ripped up by the roots. The sound of a mighty oak falling outside your window is terrifying. You speaking about oak trees in the storm well, I must still have a little PTSD. God's speed.

I am 10 min north of St Pete. I had water coming over the seawall last moon cycle and this cycle is only 1 inch less. It could be bad, or it could do what Irma did and suck the water out of the bay. Prayers for all. luckily I bugged out last night and now near Miami.

I live in the Daytona Beach area. Supposedly, when it reaches me it'll be a cat 1. Right now, it's still near Cuba, so it could change. You really don't the true direction or strength until it's 5-10 hours away lol.

One hurricane a few years ago (can't remember which one), we didn't start preparing windows or food until the hurricane was 6 hours away and it was for sure going to be a cat 3-4. Another hurricane turned out to be a cat 1 when it got to us, we didn't even bother closing the garage door lol.

Right now, I'm house sitting for family, so I'm not at my own house to prep there, my brother's there, but he's pretty much a space-case. Luckily, my family's house I'm in now is pretty hurricane proof.

In Seminole County. Just got our Hurricane Warning. We are looking at 2 days of sustained winds and we are in a heavily wooded neighborhood with lots of pine and oak trees that haven’t really been stressed since 2004. Could be bad here.

We are boarding up our new, exterior-exposed (house is an H-shape) windows with some of the lightweight plastic panels that we bought a few years ago when we realized that we needed something lighter as we get older and have no strong, athletic daughters to help us board up.

Hopefully it is totally overkill but having gotten the eyewall of Charley in 2004 (which devastated our neighborhood with all of the tornadoes in the eyewall), we are playing it safe.

Luckily, it looks like the hurricane will lessen once on land, which is good news for us in the Central East. But definitely don't want to mess around with trees and strong winds, especially oaks trees, I've seen them just completely uproot taking the ground with them. Good luck and be safe ❤️

Yep, Tampa Bay. Everyone stay safe, a lot can change in 24hrs. Remember the weather reporters believe in climate change, so I question everything they say. My biggest concern is how I convince my dachshunds to go out in the hurricane.😏

It'll barely be a cat 1 when it hits land. Most likely a tropical storm. Media has brainwashed the sheep well. https://weather.com/storms/hurricane/news/2022-09-27-hurricane-ian-forecast-landfall-cuba-florida-tampa

Yup, exactly! Tampa area probably gonna get rough, but otherwise once it gets to land its starts to lose strength. Media over exaggerates because fear makes people panic buy. I was gonna order some food and pet stuff from Walmart and all pickup/delivery time slots are completely full until Saturday kek.

I don't think it'll affect the election too much, Florida usually bounces back pretty quickly with hurricanes. So far, it doesn't look like it's gonna be too bad, once it reaches Tampa it'll start to lose power once it's on land.
