I came across this thread by user u/Crockett (am I allowed to tag?) suggesting that big pharma gave boron bad press: https://communities.win/c/Health/p/15JnKfThq8/boron/c and I'm gonna post the content he wrote, what do you guys think?
Some facts about boron:
Boron helps calcium and magnesium levels, by regulating tissue membranes so the minerals can be pumped in and out as needed more easily. This means more calcium freed from muscle tissue, and less needs to be released from bones. Calcium level can improve just by taking Boron and magnesium, which is sufficient for calcium to be better allocated in the body.
Boron helps regulate sexual hormones. It increases testosterone and estriadol in post-menopausal women, relieving symptoms of menopause. In younger men, it increases testosterone but actually decreases estrogen. There's no evidence that it causes hormone levels to increase beyond what's healthy
Boron lengthens the half-life of sexual hormones and Vitamin D in the body, significantly increasing their presence in the blood and bio-availability over time.
Boron significantly reduces certain markers for inflammation. As you probably know, heart disease and many others are basically just diseases of inflammation.
Boron helps reverse fluoridation
Boron helps detox heavy metals
Borax (yes, the cleaning stuff) is pretty much just boron, and has been used to basically cure arthritis and osteoporosis, thanks to its anti-inflammatory, bone-healthy, and hormonal effects
Borax has been banned in the EU and Australia as a "reproductive poison", even though it is no more toxic than table salt
Borax was labeled a poison in Australia immediately following pharma lobbying the government after finding out that someone was selling it as a cure for arthritis
Borax is anti-microbial and anti-parasitic, but especially anti-fungal. It is an effective treatment for athlete's foot, vaginal thrush, and candida
Boron protects DNA damage, which is the basic mechanism of causes of cancer
Boron exposure has been shown to correlate with lower risk of osteoporosis and cancer
Studies suggest that boron helps cognitive function as well
Boron is naturally acquired from most plants we would eat. But boron content suffers seriously from soil depletion. Plants grown in mineral depleted soil, or with growth stimulated by fertilizers, will be lower in boron than they would have been in more natural history
There is no established daily recommended amount of boron, despite its health impact (it's effect on bone health alone should merit it for attention)
Those who recommend boron recommend a dosage of 6-9 mg/day, and even higher for the treatment of acute symptoms, before reducing to a lower dose for maintenance
The LD50 (measure of fatal toxicity) is a thousand times higher than any typical dose
Studies suggesting that it is harmful to fertility required doses far beyond any dosage or exposure, and was only demonstrated in animals, never in humans (even among boron miners)
Studies suggesting that is ineffective for its claimed uses used negligible amounts of it (less than the 3 mg/day)
TLDR:
Great for Bone/teeth health and calcium/magnesium levels in general
Great for Inflammation
Great for sexual hormones
Great anti-fungal
Basically cures Osteoporosis and arthritis
Good for fluoride and heavy metal detox
Possible cognitive and anti-cancer benefits
Suppressed by pharma because it's cheap and unpatentable
Modern people don't get enough because factory farming and food processing means we get it from nowhere instead of everywhere
I'll find out soon. Gonna start on it for arthritis.
Report back, please.
I found some info on the dosage. 9-12 mg per day. 5mg tabs from the "vita-mines" store with glucosamine chondroitin twice a day seems to be helping, even with the onset of cold. Sure makes me pee, tho...
Thank you for the update. I'm glad it's helping! I hope it becomes even more effective as your body takes it in. Haha about the extra trips to the bathroom. It's gotta be worth it though. And thanks for the dosage, too.
Hi Dudeman,
I've been looking at boron for my mom and dog. I think I want to start my son on it to detox him from all the stupid shots they convince parents to give the kids.
How are your arthritis symptoms doing nowadays?
Hi :) Sorry for the delayed reply, I just got out of jail here hehe. I use the 3mg. tablets and started way too high, 2 am and 2 pm. Really made me pee a lot but much of the inflamation responded favorably. Now down to 1 tab in the morning in the summer time (hydration) and 1 morning and 1 evening when it cools down. The higher doses will cleanse the blood but you'll be reeeeealy thirsty. Filtered tap water fills the bill for me ;)
Thanks a bunch buddy. I appreciate the tips. Glad that you are out on parole now. 😉
May I ask who you buy your tablets from? I've been looking for more natural supplements and sadly most pills are made in China nowadays.
Not sure of the origin, but it's available at Vitamin Shoppe
Let us know if it works fren!

I take Borax daily. Good for gut health - stops sugar cravings (including booze). Take w/ Sarsaparilla to prevent die-off flu. Great for mental clarity too.
EDIT: been doing it for 4 years +/-. 20 Mule Train brand will keep you going for years on one box. Also good for laundry ;)
How much do you take?
I started at 1 teaspoon of Borax in a wine bottle filled w water. Shake it up and then drink a teaspoon a day (not on an empty stomach). Now I'm at a tablespoon of Borax in the same bottle (750 ml) of water and I just slug from the bottle. You can increase to a shot glass over time if you want, but slugging from the bottle works for me.
Here’s an article someone posted in another thread yesterday:
https://pforlife.com/borax-conspiracy.html
It has dosage recommendations in it.
Per 7_7_24's link:
If you want to try the higher doses recommended by Earth Clinic for treating Candida and removing fluoride from the body - using your bottle of concentrated solution - then use:
· Lower dose for low to normal weight - 100 ml (= 1/8 teaspoon of borax powder); drink spaced out during the day.
· Higher dose for heavier individuals - 200 ml (= 1/4 teaspoon of borax powder); drink spaced out during the day.
Always start with a standard dose and increase gradually to the intended maximum. Take the maximum amounts for 4 or 5 days a week as long as required.
Borax is rather alkaline and in higher concentrations has a soapy taste. You may disguise this with lemon juice, vinegar or ascorbic acid. Keep the bottle with the concentrated solution out of reach of small children.
Have you tried taking boron supplements? One thing that hasn't been made clear in my research is the significance of Borax vs Boron. It's sodium borate versus boron citrate, more or less, and I don't know how/if that matters.
I kind of trust borax to be made of what it says more than any given supplement provider, so there's that.
Generally boron supplements don't have nearly enough of the recommended dosage and are not cheap when you follow the recommended dosages above.
Really? The recommended amounts seem to be in the 3-9 mg range, for daily usage and maintenance (up to like 20mg if you're treating acute arthritis or something). Supplements I bought were cheap; $10 for 300 3 mg tablets. That's five months of a normal 6 mg dosage for 10 bucks.
They say a "dose" of borax is more like 30 mg, but only because you need 30 mg of borax to get 3 mg of boron. I don't think the boron dosages are different.
Did I misunderstand something?
What is the brand of your boron supplements? I looked 3-4 years ago and couldn't find anything comparable to what you are recommending. I'd be interested to know as a lot of people are squirrely about drinking borax.

Nice one - thanks
A lot of this stuff is a double-eged sword. If you need more boron it probably works great. If you have enough or too much already it's not going to do anything good for you. If you want more testosterone the best thing to do is eat healthy and lift weights. If you're already doing that and your T is still really low, the best thing is just to inject testosterone.
Good point
Thoughts on DHEA?
I've taken DHEA before, it's a pre-cursor to a bunch of other hormones and generally can make you feel pretty good, I haven't noticed any bad side effects from it or anything. But if you're actually suffering from low-testosterone (hypogonadism) there's really no substitute for testosterone. With hormones in general you can do a lot for yourself by getting in shape and eating right, for lots of people that's enough, but beyond that if you really need (insulin, thyroid, testosterone, etc.) there's no substitute for the hormone itself. It doesn't cost that much to get tested, and if you need it you're much better off with testosterone than "test boosters" from the supplement store.
I had cancer 22 years ago (right after 9/11) and needed thyroid right away, probably should have started testosterone a few years after that. Been on T for the last 5 years and it's had a huge positive impact on my quality of life (for whatever that's worth). I wish I had pushed harder to get tested 10 years earlier. There's nothing wrong with DHEA, it's just not the same thing.
Great stuff man, how did you beat the cancer? Conventional methods? I have never taken testosterone before but an older friend of mine told me how much better he felt on a daily from it, as if he were 18 again. I think I should get tested soon, obviously I don't wanna overdo it
Yes, chemo and radiation, the particular kind I had (Hodgkin's) had about an 80-90% five year survival rate with the conventional treatment. If the numbers had been a lot worse I would have looked at unconventional methods. Still wasn't any fun, but I'm glad I'm still here to see how clownworld unfolds.
Best of luck to you, keep fighting!
Not low T, been tested. I cycle 2 weeks on, 1 week off with DHEA and I seem to have more "oomph" in my workouts after I'm on for a few days. I was just curious what you thought of it. Obviously, my perception could be tainted by wanting it to help, thereby making me push a little harder than when not on it. I took Andro for a while when it was still on market and that was like crazy gains in a short period of time - then I had blood work showing various liver emzymes where out of wack so I stopped taking it. DHEA I have had no variations in my blood work.
Sounds like you're doing fine. IMHO DHEA is good stuff, and if it makes you feel better or seems to be doing something useful I would keep using it.
If you want stuff to take for your liver enzymes, milk thistle is great, tudca is great (if you need it), b-vitamins and lecithin are very helpful.
Dietician here. I take 9-12mg boron a day. I take breaks once in a while.
What is your reason for taking it if I may ask?
Testosterone levels.
I take 18 mg a day. Really helps the arthritis. I can actually use a pen again and can type. Not all gone but it's only been a couple weeks.
This does work with arthritis. I did borax water for a long time. 1/4 tsp, 8 Oz water once per day. I ran out and it was forgotten. Life. Gonna start again.
Just started taking it last night for sciatica. I think it's still too early to notice any results. If it works, I'll make a post singing its praises!
Chiropractors do well for this
I went like 5 times. No results.
Find another chiro. My "regular" one just kept doing the same old textbook adjustment and it just hurt. Found a new one and he did different things, finally NAILING IT!!! It still took 2 years of braces, ice and motrin to feel good again.
Some afflictions take time/multiple visits, but not everyone is equally talented. Maybe try another one or two.
My Chiro broke my neck!
Good luck!
Solid post. But there's more: Boron protects prostate health and helps prevent and treat prostate cancer:

So, what would 6-9mg be in teaspoons?
I'm not sure, you should get an mg-scale in any case though, they can be quite useful every now and then.
Time to go shopping.
According to this, 1 teaspoon of borax to 1 liter of water creates a concentrate, of which 1 teaspoon is a 3mg dose or boron.
That concentrate method is probably the way to go, but it looks like "25 to 30 mg of Borax to 3 mg of Boron" is your exact answer.
Picked up some 3mg Boron capsules this morning. Should I be taking anything else with it? Any other vitamins or supplements?
I just started taking it myself, so I'm not much of an authority. I just started exploring, and that's part of the reason I posted about it online, to collect more anecdata from others. From what I've been reading in my research, it synergizes really well magnesium. But based on the logic of why, that's really only relevant for for its bone-healthy and calcium-related effects.
There's a magnesium-calcium exchange in muscle tissue when you clench/unclench muscles. Calcium can get locked in the tissue, and that's what boron fixes. If you take magnesium with the boron, that allows the magnesium to flush out the stuck calcium, freeing it up to balance electrolytes and be re-absorbed into bones/teeth, etc. (I'm summarizing stuff I learned a few days ago, so take this all with a grain of salt).
That was the logic behind boron+magnesium (and why you can get more calcium by doing that, even without taking calcium). Maybe there's another reason, but it seems like if your bones and electrolytes are fine, then the magnesium isn't especially important.
Also, it increases the lifespan of vitamin D in the body. So if you're supplementing that, boron ought to help that be more effective.
That's all I've found so far for specific synergies.
Thanks. appreciate your time.
Thete are lots of calculators on line that will convert x to y for nearly anything. ( except chromosomes ;-)
A miligram scale like a Gem 20 can be had on Ebay. Very handy to taper off of addictive drugs like benzos. Thanks for the boron article, will look into it.

I feel like these posts are strictly paytriotism
LOL I'm in the shape of my life
For 10 bucks, I got 5 months worth of boron supplements, lol. (One bottle with 300 3 mg tablets)
What do you mean by that?
