The data collection is based on agreements between the collector(s) and the company that owns the platform. Open sourcing the platform and sharing accounts voids those agreements, because the other platforms did not agree to share their users' information. No judge is going to see it otherwise.
right, i'm sure nobody " get's hacked " and has people's personal data " stolen " while never discovering the culprits because they actually do a deal with the people they are selling info to without the informed consent of the users. even better if the ones obtaining the info are the government and can shield you from investigation.

It's based on Mastodon which requires forks and users of it's code to also be open source according to the license.
