This is what I observed. If you "Follow" the ones who don't have a large amount of followers, like under a couple thousand. They usually will follow you back. Content is important as well.
Back in the day you would gain a lot of followers by being put on Trump trains. Then they started suspended any accounts that started any Trump trains. I was up to 16,000 followers until the great purge which saw my followers reduced to 7,000 then more purges reduced it to less than 6,000. Hopefully the purging of conservatives, MAGA patriots is over.
