Historically speaking, I would have to say Reagan. I grew up in the 80s, and he is the hero of my generation.
One problem with that, and this one really kinda urked me, as when I was a democrat I thought he was a war criminal. Maybe he was, but I dont know what to think of him after seeing pics of him at bohemian grove sitting next to Bush Senior, and we all know how bad he was.

MAGA has been an attempt to hijack and take over the Republican Party. Obviously there has been much resistance but at this point I think we are the majority.
To me the problem with the third party angle is if you can’t even take over one of the two parties, how are you going to be able to start an entirely new third party. Surely a takeover should be easier.
Also, Trump is fairly committed to the Republican brand. If Trump started a third party, how many fed-up, former Democrats is he likely to be able to draw?

The problem is not nearly enough conservatives learned from 2020 that we need to get involved in party politics at the local level right on up to national. It's the local, district and state parties that make the crucial decisions about candidates, election procedures and certification.
You get it, few make it into House or Senate unless they play ball. Even some are allowed to fake dissent for optics as long as the UNIPARTY wins. Look at the entire voting record before deciding who is what. Controlled opposition abounds.

You can tell a lot by their voting histories, especially if you pay close attention to the ones who are allowed to vote against the agenda only when there is no hope of defeating that agenda.
At this point, 99% of Republicans should be voting no automatically on 99% of bills. Anyone wavering on that should immediately be glared at and investigated.

The difference is that red team is blue team from 5-10 years ago at best, and lasting progress is only ever made in favor of blue team. Any person with sound thinking will observe this and realize that there are no politicians genuinely on their side. Red team is different flavors of controlled opposition.
