Maybe he's not a puppet at all, or he's a former puppet who had his strings cut.
I'm just spitballing. Would've supported any of the 6 instead. But at least he's trying to prove all of us wrong; but talk is cheap and this is still talk.
I am open, for sure, and you might be right. Doesnt really matter though. I am past liking and disliking personalities. As long as they do the right thing I am good.
I believe the Rules adopted by the House and the committee memberships already takes this from "talk the talk" to "walking the walk". A lot of it is now up to the committees. Jim Jordan especially. (Now I understand why he couldn't be the speaker btw)
It has little to do with his personality and everything to do with his record of support.
A rules change isn't United States policy. It isn't the passage, ratification and enforcement of new laws to protect us or the revocation of laws that harm us.
If one more dollar is sent to Ukraine, for example, that is proof that he isn't "walking the walk". The boy is crawling at best. We hope that he learns to walk soon.
"Kevin McCarthy, get right before Me now and move forward with what you need to do, and I will protect you. No more waiting on others to do the job I have given to you. Do not fear what they can do to you. No, stand boldly, and I will protect you from the threats they planned against you. I will also protect your family, so, go. Your green light is now, saith the Lord."
"This is still talk. Its the results that matter".
" Results" so far:
Kevin agreed to a Rules Package taking centralized control away from a select few and returning it to ALL House Membrrs. Kevin promised to submit that Rules Package for approval. Kevin DID submit the Rules package for approval on Monday as promised. With Kevin's support, the Rules Package passed with only one Republican voting no.
Kevin also promised to have a House vote on defending the recently hired army of IRS agents. As promised that vote was held. And it was passed.
Kevin also promised to have a House vote creating a Church Committee to investigate the weaponization of Federal Government against the American people. Kevin kept that promise. The vote was held. With Kevin's support it passed. Jim Jordan will head the Committee. Massie will be on the Committee.
Kevin also had all of Pelosis barriers and metal detectors removed.
Kevin was elected Speaker on Saturday. Today is....?
Re: Committees, re:votes that have to pass the Senate and/or hit the Usurper's desk, etc.:
None of this matters until something actually comes from it.
Rules package is superficial for the moment; neat, but this isn't U.S. policy.
Defunding the IRS agents -- Is that something that has to hit the Senate, or does the House have full authority over this? Also, expect challenges to come from this. It wouldn't be the first time that something looks like a win and then is twisted.
Jim Jordan heading a committee is pointless unless they actually do something with it. This requires enforcement and full utilization of the powers of the House to do so. Nunez was head of a committee and nothing was done with that.
Re: barriers and metal detectors removed; so? We knew that these were pointless anyway. No one was going to be caught dead after the 6th whether the detectors and barriers were there or not. This is virtue signaling, not some sort of substantial progress. Those were not going to be up forever and that this is a point that buys good will from you proves that.
You also forgot the conveniently removed mandates from the Pentagon.
By all means: Praise the good he's done, but don't be fooled into complacency. The Republican party has done this before, and his record is what you should be looking at first and remaining skeptical of him. If you aren't skeptical, you won't hold him to account. We desperately need accountability.
We ALL need to remember that we are giving him a chance because we've been forced to. It is not an excuse to throw all of our trust into a career politician.
Blind optimism absolutely does create complacency. McCarthy has yet to actually prove himself. The things that have been done right now are cool, but don't have lasting effects and haven't yielded any accountability or justice or protections for the American people. It has not brought back billions from black projects or funds for Ukraine. It hasn't withdrawn arms that are now lost on the black market.
But most of these things McCarthy supported. Supported aiding Ukraine. Voted to support quite a few things that harmed the American population.
So, a few good starts that may lead to results are not results in their own right.
Do I need to bring up how many times it had looked like we'd see justice from the likes of Trey Gowdy, Devin Nunes, the rare time we had a full majority in the House and Senate while we also had the Presidency?
Sorry, it's going to take a bit more than changing the rules -- which every incoming speaker does -- and assigning people to committees to prove that he is good.
If we don't remember history, and we keep repeating it from sheer hopium overdoses, that's absolutely complacency.
For the second line: Do you really want an honest answer? I've gotten into it with people who will sell hopium and backpedal and reason why they were still right when they were wrong.
Our side, on all parts, has boatloads of complacency. For every person that tells other people to get involved with local programs for example, there are -- literally -- tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions and tens of millions who don't.
So anyway: There is no amount of hopium, copium, energy, jabs, thought policing, etc. that will make me agree with McCarthy's being a force for good, until we see actual accountability and justice happen under his eye. That is something only he can do. Only he can prove people wrong.
That's the last I'll say in this thread. Too many people are willing to instill faith into a career politician, no matter how many times that is proven to be dangerous. I will not be one of those people, and I hope most of us will not be either.
I want everyone to read what he's done and ask themselves this:
"If the things he has done already are the only good things he does, and he does everything wrong tomorrow, or the next day, and he suddenly approves and assists in passing another 80 billion to Ukraine, are you satisfied with his performance? Is that good enough?"
Maybe he's not a puppet at all, or he's a former puppet who had his strings cut.
I'm just spitballing. Would've supported any of the 6 instead. But at least he's trying to prove all of us wrong; but talk is cheap and this is still talk.

There are/were people that didn't like Trump's personality and didn't vote for him based on that alone.
From February 2022.

Methinks that an optimistic and pre-creative outlook does not necessarily require complacency.
But hmmm.... Do you see complacency as a big problem here at GAW?

I pray the answer is "no."
Take care fren!
Complacency? As a big problem? Here at GAW?
u/#trumpnope
Seems GAW provides too many answers and news connections to be tagged as complacent.
Exactly... I'm giving him a chance because I have no choice.
I'm praying for him.... and all of them, for them to have the courage to do the right thing, not for money or fame, but because it's right.
Words are nice, we will know by their actions ...
Valid points
At least the house is no longer locked up like the Politboro...
