I remember moving to Houston in the 6th grade. The school took us on a "field trip" to the surrounding neighborhood to show us the fault lines. I lived in fear of a huge earthquake swallowing up my suburban area. Then at school they're telling me an Ice Age was coming!
The "ice age" was a good grift until they realized you have to burn oil and coal to keep warm.
But...but...all the oil will be used up by 1980!
Musta been rough. I knew adults were lying by age 4/5. I still loved em, but understanding always comes later. (((Me telling my kids to stop asking questions: this house is not a democracy, you little shits!!)))
I remember at age 5 (1978) my parents let me ask the old farmers in a diner if this weather was the worst theyve seen and standing back while these farmers laid out the truly bad years. I figured it out early too.
Speaking of diners, my baby sister asked one time why a lady was dressed like a man (1990s) and we were in a small town diner, everybody's silverware stopped clanging and my dad calmy said "she's just confused honey. Eat your food." People went back to business, but if that happened now, I'd laugh so hard and so loud. Hahaha. Fuckin sodomites and homosexuals; cancer of the earth.
I was in high school in the 60s. Then scientists said we're headed for a mini ice age, global cooling. This didnt sit well with politicians who plan a carbon tax and spread global warming. Because of the confusion they changed terminology to climate change.
But if the politicians are correct why are they buying multi-million estates ocean side?

The post is saying that humanity will be wiped out “unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years”, not that humanity will be wiped out within the next five years if we don’t stop using fossil fuels. Still a dumb statement but don’t make yourselves also look dumb by not having proper reading comprehension.

The true statement says that the world will end (eventually / at some point) if we don’t stop using fossil fuels by 2023. People assume she meant that the world will end by 2023 if we don’t stop using fossil fuels.

It’s still really dumb because it is saying that there’s absolutely no chance to reverse it now and that we’re doomed because we didn’t stop within those 5 years. So by their own logic, why even try anymore?
Well, it’s not over yet. She needs to be more optimistic. She’s more of a “the glass of climate change is half empty” type of person.
Actually we need to hold her feet to the fire on this one.

One of my favorite lies was the signs at Glacier National Park stating the glaciers would all be gone by 2020. Then in 2020 they had to take them down because all the glaciers had expanded.
Another is the snows of Mt Kilmanjaro disappearing. Yes the glacier on that mountain is shrinking but one only 30 miles away is expanding. They cherry pick normal events that can be made to seem dire, and ignore anything that proves them lying.
How dare you!
