You're right. Old school drag performers like Divine would be disgusted by this bastardisation. In interviews, unless he was performing a routine or number in character he dressed as a man, and always said the drag was just his work uniform.
Drag was a caricature, not an identity. At some point along the way, drag became less comedy, more gay. Now somehow the beams have crossed and drag = trans.
Because trans absorbs everything and consumes it, like a (small) swarm of virulent locusts.
