Yes, I find it quite interesting. Apparently there is a lot of things happening there including it being used for our space force. There is a city there named Georgetown. It is named after the Christian Feast of Ascension and that day just so happens to be tomorrow, Thursday the 18th. Interesting indeed!!!

I remember some of the anons talking about the island after Q dropped the word "ascension'. I didn't follow that closely then but maybe it's time to do a deep dive.

I have had a number of patients who were heading to work on Ascension Island. They were contract government workers who'd go to work on communications stuff or runway maintenance. Their companies would send them to our office for various vaccines

Ascension island's only runway was unusable due to disrepair, from 2017 until 2022. It's pretty neat that someone saw a flight there, because I'm guessing that flights are not so frequent.

Between 1872 and 1889, the population of the island was listed as HMS Flora (Tender), under the orders of the Commander-in-Chief, Cape of Good Hope, estimated to number just 150 in 1888.[20] HMS Flora had been the guardship at Ascension from 1865 to 1872 before being ordered south to become the Simonstown depot ship. Five ratings died while on a recreational boat trip in 1879.[21]

In 1899, as part of the British effort in the Second Boer War, the Eastern Telegraph Company (later Cable & Wireless plc) installed the first submarine communications cable from the island, connecting the UK with its colonies in South Africa.[22][23] In 1922, letters patent made Ascension a dependency of Saint Helena, with control being officially handed over to the Eastern Telegraph Company from the Admiralty on 20 October 1922.[24] The island was managed by the head of the Eastern Telegraph Company on the island until 1964 when the British Government appointed an Administrator to represent the Governor of Saint Helena in Ascension.[22][23]
