I ended up writing one of the walkthroughs and skill guides for the game back then, barely comprehending all those little details in the plot at the time. Also there was some controversy when someone pointed out that the Twin Towers were missing from the future NYC skyline in the game a year before 9/11 had happened.
You could just download and play the game. It's like $5 on Steam. There's a whole series and every game in it is absolutely worth playing. The whole series is a red pill factory.
Also, this is the premise of Resident Evil, too, if you're into zombie games.

Big pharma also creates a fake vaccine which is really a time-released version of the virus that would kill off the remaining population. Funnily enough the "controversial" VTuber Pippa has been streaming it for a week now. When capturing the terrorist leader in the first mission she was asking aloud "why are these terrorists so based?"

No the Universal Constructor is a Star Trek style replicator that can make anything from scratch, in the final level there are some that act as spawners for monster even that try to stop you. The AIs in this game are Daedalus who rebels and enlists your help by breaking you out of prison, Icarus who is deployed to hinder you and does stuff like taunting you through computer terminals and calling you on the phone when you break into a certain office, and then Helios who is another entity that they merge into. You also can find Echelon IV in a hidden area and speak to it to receive a bunch of foreshadowing.
Would love to see a modern remake of this like what was done with system shock, but that's probably unlikely due to the subversive nature of the story / plot.
