If I’m not mistaken, you and I live close to each other and you’re exactly right. The roads are dangerous anymore. Everyone that’s vaxxed is in a shitty mood all the time. Or pulling out in front of us to do 49 in a 65mph zone. They never look over when you pass, either. Just a death grip on the wheel and staring straight ahead- with mask in place, of course.
Yes. We stay to ourselves. Our family are our friends, for the most part. Thank God almost everyone is on the same page. They listen to me and my Q info. I keep getting “It’s taking too long” from a couple of my kids. I tell them it takes a long time to cast this big of a net. Praise God, all six of my kids have jobs, and good ones at that. Still, what was once excellent income is now barely middle incomeEdit: CA transplants have ruined this state. It’s sad.
I agree. My wife and I fled the Bay Area for NV almost 15 years ago, and it’s concerning seeing how things have been changing here recently.
And I barely have to leave the house to notice it (!) — more and more solar panels appearing on the neighborhood roofs; Teslas & Subarus in driveways … 🙄
Speaking of the roads, someone in a red van tried to make a right turn from a left lane on a highway, without slowing down...and also while I was in the right lane. Dude didn't even turn his head to look if anyone was there, or turn his blinker on, just started shifting over, and when I noticed he was getting too close I swerved right and honked my horn a couple times. Thankfully nothing happened but I couldn't believe how out of it this guy was that he just wasn't paying attention to anything on the road at all! And this wasn't early morning or middle of the night, just right after people get off work.
Landwhales. Landwhales everywhere — especially women. In the 1960s and ‘70’s in Spokane, WA any of these would have been considered circus sideshow material and mothers would have admonished their children not to stare and point. Nowadays it’s remarkable to see people who are physically fit.
Thanks for the article and your commentary. I've been noticing this too, especially the part about advertising trying to screw with our perceptions of beauty. Noticing a lot of folks with widely-spaced eyes (no offence to anybody meant, just noticing that it's a trend) of a startling degree/distance. Desensitizing for an alien reveal? Mostly kidding about that...
Very true, and true for some time now, and in commercial architecture perhaps especially. To see some of the modern structures against classic ones in some city is a startling illustration of the attack on truth and beauty.
A friend told me once what he loved about modern homes & buildings: “they’re so poorly made, and made with such cheap materials, they’ll collapse or need to be demolished in a pretty short timespan. So we don’t have to suffer them long.”
(Though, sadly, there’s no guarantee what replaces them would be any better)
Me too fren. I started working from home about 15 years ago and I immediately switched from business casual to shorts and a tee shirt and never looked back. It never occurred to me that I might be offending folks.
Oops, I just read the article and now I realize that they're not talking about me. I just look retired, not ridiculous.
my single mother kicked me out for believing in conspiracies. i've had jobs but i've also spent a lot of time homeless. its hard to get out of the 'survival mode' mindset. plus my fam is all lib anyways so i never had any good influences to begin with. although i did used to shower everyday lol
After the past 7 or 8 years, you need one of those tee-shirts that says "I need some new conspiracies because all of my other ones were proven to be true". Your mom would probably love that. ;)
Hang in there fren. It's gonna suck for a while, but then things will be better than we ever dared dream.
thanks fren. I'm actually insanely good at staying positive about life in general. i'm very comfortable with the big picture. its just my own part in it that gets me puzzled. but faith has brought me this far, and i've got lots of it
The people I'm seeing make homeless people look like GQ models. Clearly some here need some visual aids with the People of Walmart look. (And I hope things get better for your soon.)
Noticing women’s clothes in Walmart the last 5 years. All ugly, drab colors, potato sacks, unflattering and unfeminine. Walking by I wonder who’s ordering this garbage and who’s buying it?
This year, bright colors and feminine clothes. New buyer or did the “programming” fail? Dunno.
Before someone rants about shopping in Walmart…small town, few choices.
Wouldn't it be great if we all just wore the same color and style of clothes? Imagine all the stress that would remove. I hear bugs taste great in patty form. If only it was all provided by the government too. Such freedom!
On my way driving down to Cape May, NJ with my son to see the 1960's band "The Association" ("Cherish," "WIndy," "Never My Love," "Along Comes Mary," et. al.) we stopped in for lunch at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.
Lots of historic Rock and Roll memorabilia to be sure, but --- the people. I was so non-impressed by all the slovenliness, piercings, body "art," ill-fitting attire, personal despiration in the eyes of the "victims" of the "one-armed-bandits," Black jack tables, etc.
And to think these places were allowed by the State of NJ to stay open during the pandemic when schools, churches, and, notably, Ian Smith's Atilis Gym were forced to close and to "distance."
Peter Frampton was scheduled to play a show that night. We passed.
Felt like I needed a shower after the visit.
By contast, "The Association" concert was phenomenal, and the guys came out for a meet and greet afterward. Made the trip all worth it!
i've noticed a few more people wearing pajamas in Walmart, lots of overweight people that look horrible in the face/through the eyes.
personally, i've always been a "t-shirt, shorts & flip flops" guy. i don't like jeans, ties & "spiffy" clothes. i just want to be comfortable, but i don't go out looking like a mess.
at the same time, idgaf what any single person thinks about me or what im wearing or look like. im not going out for them or to impress people i don't know or have little to no respect for.
Slovenly, my gosh yes! The guys around here not so much. They mostly wear the camo pants and t shirt uniform. But I remarked today after a trip to town that so many girls look like prostitutes who dressed out of the Salvation Army rejects bin. (Yes I'm old but not that easily shocked.) Today I saw an obese girl with a worn and wrinkled shorts outfit, belly hanging out and shorts so short her rather lumpy rear end was showing in the back. You can only squeeze so much into skimpy shorts without them giving up the fight. Even the guys were begging her to dress more modestly. heh
We also on our country road see a lot of vaxzombies driving over the double yellow line on all the blind curves and hills. If you slow down to have time to react to the oncoming zombies, the zombie behind you will pull out on a blind curve to pass you. On the double line, of course.
This will be the second time in my life when fashion has randomly collided with my current state of dress. Previously, it was the brief frenzy over plaid flannel during the Bob and Doug McKenzie hype. I hate seeming trendy and hope this goes away quickly.
It's how civilizations die, first very slowly, and then suddenly.

Nevada
That's sad. I'm sorry for you and your wife.

All of my clothes are work clothes. I'm typically covered in grease. Somebody has to do it. 🤷♂️
Dirt usually equals work! Thank you for bothering. Many don’t. Where are they getting their money?
dirt can also = broken washing machine!
I just had a similar issue but it was the dryer!
From you, the taxpayer!
That's certainly not what I mean and most of the ones I see look like they would faint if they had to work.
Traveled last weekend and thought this when I was walking through airports. Disgusting

It's so true. Land whales is a good term.

"folks with widely-spaced eyes"
It's because wide eyes are on prey like sheep. Narrow eyes are on predators like wolves.
Mostly kidding.
i feel personally attacked

Used to fly a lot. Always wore a jacket and tie.
Once upon a time it was something special.
Feel bad for the dumbasses that will never know how nice things can be.

I've noticed the change as well. Small town here too.
Disagree. Feminine and sexy are two different things. My .02

Before you roast me, it's sarcasm! KEK😜
I prefer blue
Masks and pajamas is such a good look though.

The vaxed don't seem to be aging well.
This is a good point.
