'Margaritaville' singer Jimmy Buffett, who turned beach-bum life into an empire, dies at 76

Sorry, not sorry. He required proof of fake vax to attend his shows.

To keep his audience, and his money, flowing in.
I'm certain the venue required it so he had to as well.
He still had a choice and he still sold out for the money. Seems pretty black and white to me. Could have played at a small time bar or rented a venue that didn't require that shit.
I'm saying of course he did because he's not going to turn away the money.
That certainly doesn't make him a saint.
I agree it was the venue and that was spearheaded by Ticket Master/Livenation (same company). I also think the record label pushed people. They always have the option to leave but when they do in most cases the label owns their music. (Research Taylor Swift leaving her label.) I used to go to at least two concerts a month until 3/2020. When they started back we refused to bend. We saw our friends get the vax to go. Travis Tritt is the only one I know of that refused to play venues that required vaccines. Then Kid Rock refused also. I can't speak for pop or other rock bands. Kenny Chesney took off for two years until it was over. He made the statement he would start back when it was safe for everyone. I wonder if he didn't want to make the fans deal with it. He's always been hard charging since 1994 and until 2020 only took one year off due to complete exhaustion.
Really good musicians are not well connected with reality.
I heard something interesting in a podcast the other day. They said most musicians are liberals. I play a bit of music and the vast majority of my music friends are HARD liberals. I have a few right leaning musical friends as well but I had never thought about the obvious elephant liberal in the room before.
I think there are a few factors at play here (no pun intended, lol):
I studied music in college, and at my small school, the music students were mostly conservative, with the most conservative being the students who were also working full time jobs outside of school and/or the Latin American exchange students (many of whom were from Venezuela, so they weren't fans of socialism to say the least). On the other hand, the musicians who went from music school to working musician tended towards liberal, and most of them didn't have a lot of real world experience outside of the music/theater bubble. Take that as you will.
As far as successful musicians being liberals, the music industry is much like Hollywood - apart from some exceptions such as Ted Nugent or John Rich, the music industry rewards those who toe the line and squawk out the correct political talking points.
Sorry for the long answer, but I hope that makes sense.
Nice to have more of the picture. Thank you.
I literally just had a talk with a friend about that Oliver Anthony song, Rich men North of Richmond. It finally hit me why it hit the way it did. I‘m simplifying but his almost crying emotional voice couple with the lyrics and all our unaddressed pain, really hit a nerve in (most) of us, even in some liberals. He says he‘s a politcal centrist. The shivers and energy flowing through me went on for weeks from that song and the reaction videos.
Nice to break through that barrier and funny to see it at #1 on the Billboard 100. LOL
Very good point. Also most artists are a little crazy. Doesn't matter if they are musicians, painters, writers, artists, athletes, thrill seekers etc. Crazy might not be the correct word. They seem to take chances the average person wouldn't dream of.
Yep
Answered my immediate question in first comment. Thanks.
RIP Jimmy! Hopefully you've found your lost shaker of salt!
The salt must flow reeeeeeeeeeee
But was he vaxxed, I wonder?
1000% and boosted. Required Vax cards and masks at all his concerts
Coulda been worse...
That's the million dollar question.
Don't ask baffling questions.
I'm wondering the same thing. He was a liberal and didn't fight the mandates. Around 2017 when NC was fighting gender going in each bathroom and blocked it several artists refused to play here. Amazingly the Dixie Chicks came. Buffett played because he had already sold tickets made statement he might not play again if law didn't change. Of course that didn't happen! I can't speak for someone I don't personally know. Maybe he kept coming for the fans, the money or forced by the label. All of the above!? I saw him in 2003 when I won tickets and always wanted to go again but refused to pay the prices. I'm a lifelong fan of his music and will always listen to it. Only because I'm selfish and it brings me joy. I don't worship the man. Honestly I wonder if many of these celebrities that campaigned for the vaccine aren't paid. They probably didn't even get it. Bottom line he was 76 years old and he might have died of natural causes. I stopped following celebrities a long time ago so I was out of touch and was very shocked. After hearing this morning I looked at his instagram post from the past few months. His photos from March and April he looked healthy but old. Still healthy because he was an active man. He paddle boarded, flew planes and sailed in addition to still doing a full tour. He still was very active on stage. I watch music videos on YouTube and had seen some recent videos. The post from May looked like he aged about ten years in three months.
Moody, makes you wonder what his ailment was if he looked like he rapidly aged...
He might have been someone that stayed away from doctors. We will never know.
We don't know about a lot of people who suddenly'd. But we have what we know, and circumstantial evidence suggests that all the really healthy people are the ones who don't go to doctors and get every medication/jab/poison. They are the ones who don't need to go. But his rapid aging suggests to me, like a lot of the jabbed people around me, that the jab is causing the problems that we're seeing now
That makes sense. I just did a dive on his instagram all the way back to 2020. He posted maybe 3-6 times a month. I saw some photos of him with mask on outside. He was on a boat, beach and coming or going from water sports activities. If you know Buffet's history he was a rebel, hippie or pirate type living life to the fullest with out any cares just like his songs. I get people grow up and get responsible. This type of person in the 70s would have never jumped on board the vax & mask train. It's kinda said how anyone can move so far away from their true selves. I'm not saying this as a distraught fan. I loved his music and thankful I saw him in concert. I know most people are selling and presenting an image. I'm not a parrot head! It's just sad that people sell their soul for fame.
Buffett had cancer diagnosed four years ago.

Seems like the active lifestyle contributed greatly if there's something to the vaccine speculations.
I will always remember Jimmy for his song, "A Pirate Looks At 40." It was so close to my own life story... good bye, Mr. Buffett, you touched millions with your music.
It's the only song of his I love.
The unofficial rumor is that he was pecked on the noggin by a toucan during a concert and it turned sepsis.
The celebrity death total, as a surrogate of the "vaccinated" population, continues to be about double the pre-covid rate! I'll do an end of year analysis when I get the final total for 2023 (along with Kansas, if that state posts their data soon enough).
Thanks and look forward to that. Even left leaning people are getting to the point where it's not a conspiracy theory to talk about the early deaths. Not quite there yet but an obvious change. Once we get MSM under control we can tell them all the truth, but not too fast as they'll flip out.
Jabbed. His entire band was.
The original Epstein island traveler. Easy to smuggle kids in giant crates disguised as concert touring equipment sets, lights, speakers, etc.
Sauce?
Puts Jamaica Mistaka in a new light.
One of his first restaurant locations was on front street in Lahaina. His Waikiki location is still very busy.
My first Margaritaville experience was Waikiki 2011 then Nashville, Key West & Myrtle Beach. It's a shame the Waikiki closed the volcano them was cool. I'm so boring got cheeseburger in paradise every time. I put Grillo's dill pickles on my homemade cheeseburgers and they have the same same taste.
This is sad news. We saw Jimmy play Astroworld in 1987. Many a beach vacation included Buffett CDs.
I bet that was awesome before he got really big. I discovered him around 81-82, high school and continued listen to his music for life. It helps me get through winter. I won tickets in 2003 even in nosebleed it was in the top five concerts I've attended.
My favorite was "Banana Republic". Never thought I'd live there!
Vaxxed and died from cancer. Hated Trump & required vaxx to attend concerts. Good riddance commie lover
Do you have a source on the cancer?

Thanks, I've searched several times for cause of death. I sorta figured it was cancer. From March to June he looked like he aged ten years and he was a man that spent his entire life in the sun and up until last year he still looked younger than he was.
Just found details about the cancer.
