The statement says she will be acting governor until mid morning tomorrow (9/28). Although I would love to see the cheating grifter Hobbs booted out of office, this may just be some formality while she out of state or temporarily incapacitated like undergoing some medical procedure.
But shouldn’t it have defaulted to Fontes then? As both the Secretary of State and Attorney General are ahead of the Treasurer in the line of succession
IDK, but the statement also says “ when the governor returns”. I’m not holding out much hope they booted her ass!

What necessitated a temporary transfer of power and why Fontes and Mayes weren't available or able to assume it is unclear (though one Twitter poster made a choice comment - https://nitter.net/ElephantCivics/status/1707252792421658676 ).

Oh, I am not complaining about the passive aggressiveness. Its quite entertaining!
But in this case, it looks like someone not only dumped extra working out of the blue but also told them "Oh, but you are not allowed to make any of the really important nominations."

If I had to guess. Either someone is getting ahead of the media for a change. Or Hobbs and the people in the chain of secession above Yee are temporarily out of state. Hence “Acting Governor” and only from the evening till mid-morning. I’m not 100% familiar with the chain of succession for Arizona though.
Edit: So the line of succession for Arizona Governor is Secretary of State Adrian Fontes(D) Attorney General Kris Mayes(D), then followed by Treasurer Kimberly Yee(R).
So all 3 above Yee. Hobbs, Fontes, and Mayes are either out of state or in a state that precludes them from filling the role of acting Governor.

The case lasted 2 days and the judge was going to take a few days to think about the case before announcing his decision.
Maybe the decision has been made, perhaps signatures were looked at?

Has anyone ever heard of this happening in any other State, at any time, for any reason other than the Governor being sedated for a surgery? Something stinks here. This isnt SOP.
