The thing is, it shouldn't have mattered whether Iraq had WMDs! The risk of such WMDs to the world, if they existed, was minimal! What makes me almost as furious about the Iraq war, in regard to WMDs, is that Iran has never needed nuclear power, or anything related to nuclear energy, and yet they were allowed to develop a nuclear program, that is OBVIOUSLY leading to nuclear weapons! I want to know why Iran has almost been coddled by the world community in that regard.

I don't believe it was ever a case of first having to say "Iraq has WMD" and then later having to say "Oopsie poopsie! Turns out Iraq didn't have WMD". It would make more sense if there was a plan to smuggle WMDs in and plant them on Iraq, but that somehow got botched.
