Considering his career trajectory, I'm heavily leaning toward sacrifice on his part. Wojohowitz, though ... someone pointed out to me that she's been AWOL since testimony, resignation and if she turned snitch, this could be a witness protection thing. Or retribution. In the comments, people were listing other ritual sacrifices. We should take note as we may see more on the rise. They are in panic mode right now.
