I’m more inclined to believe this was a White Hat test. If it were Black Hat they would have had the alibi prepared, instead they’re scrambling to come up with excuses. It seems like WH caught them off guard.
My understanding is that ATT never said it was a solar flare. That information came from elsewhere because there were a couple of solar flares that day and somebody conflated them.
I was just watching electrical wiring videos on YouTube, some DIY stuff. No problems with YouTube for me and that came here and saw that YouTube was down so I don't know what's going on with that
The only place I heard about the solar flares causing it are some people here and some anon channels. Everyone else including semi-normies were spreading memes about incompetent IT workers.

Down detector shows the southern eastern states have the most reports. Where I am at I use ATT for home and it was glitchy earlier with some sites, I switched over to Verizon cell and it was fine.
YouTube, X, Amazon, and more have multiple heads to their network in various places around the world. Redundancy is baked in for many scenarios.
At times I wonder if they are redirecting traffic and allow it to be seen as solar flairs, hackers, and such. In the world of telecom it is removing much infrastructure for the past decade.
What happens when government servants who believe they are kings and queens allow our data in the USA to be redirected to another country for inspections? The WWW is ran by Ethernet. They can call it AI but it is manmade and man driven. They say for national security they have to lie to us for our protection. Yet it is these servants who do not even know how to pair a Bluetooth device in the light are the ones in the dark that know exactly what they are doing.

You don't do updates to anything without testing, even manufacturer urgent updates on 'critical' infrastructure...

Well that's strange because it was up here in the SE at 0800 because I was watching Mike Rowe interview Rikki Schlott which is an hour long interview.
From my experience, down detector is notoriously inaccurate.
Check it on a day there are no major news about something being down.
