I get my beef from a local rancher. Grass fed AND grass finished. Lean meat with healthy fat, not the corn fed crap you get in the store. It is hard to believe that lean ground beef in the store is almost $8/lb here. We get our beef for $4/lb.
Aldi's for those that cant line up a rancher. You can get top notch for decent. We're looking at doing a half a cow in the next few months. $4.00 is cheap, even at "Hanging Weight" There is no comparison between ranch - grass fed beef to grocery store. Although, we are pretty happy with Aldi's. I live off of protein and could never be a vegetarian. Nothing beats a good steak.
Double check the ingredients on beef at Aldi. A few months ago I saw a post on social media with added ingredients to ground beef. I don’t remember all the ingredients listed in the photo. I think it was beef and natural flavors. They don’t disclose what natural flavors are. The poster said she emailed Aldi asking what the ingredients were. They responded with: tell us what you allergic to and we can tell you if it’s in the ingredients.
I hadn’t thought of it. I have maybe shopped at Aldi about five times in twenty years. We bought a 1/4 cow last year and that’s the way to go if you have room for a big freezer. If no room, find a local slaughter house that sells it. We have been eating carnivore for seven months and have flown through the beef. Hopefully getting more in a couple weeks.
Just started shopping at Aldi’s 2 weeks ago. $3.99 for grass fed ground beef and 8.99 for grass fed ribeyes. Other surprisingly well priced organic goods too.
LOL, I just noticed that I put grass fed twice. The beef I get is grass fed and grass finished. Some of the best tasting beef around. I still miss range fed from where I grew up in Montana, though.
Feeder beef ("clean") right now is almost twice the price it was three years ago! The owner of the local livestock market sends me the weekly sale prices. I'm planning to buy some light (400 to 500 lb) feeder bulls to winter, but running nearly $4/lb live weigh right now. NOT a buyer's market at all. (Note: they become STEERS as soon as they hit my pen)
Access to mine is virtually impossible without being spotted/stopped by a neighbor. I actually held a fella at gunpoint at my neighbor to the South's corral until hearing from the neighbor himself that he hired him. Anybody driving around the area a bit too much WILL be stopped and questioned. Two backhoes in the neighborhood and plenty of acreage..
That's simply a younger beef that you plan to raise for slaughter. I buy only beef breeds (mostly Angus) and avoid any bony milker crosses. I make sure they have not been implanted with growth hormones and only use bulls/steers to keep the estrogen levels at a minimum. Grass-fed, very minimal clean grain.
There are many online places to order grass fed beef directly from the ranchers. Do a search for “order grass fed beef direct “… we have tried Wyoming Pure, and Piedmontese, which I think is in Nebraska. Both have excellent beef. I am planning to look closer to home in California. Any suggestions welcome.
They raise waygu beef in the Genessee Valley east of Chico. It is pricey. They are sure happy looking cows. I would be too, it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, I drove through there often one summer working at a campground nearby.
Subsistence Farmers in the Philippines often have beef as a cash crop, not corn, nor grass, they get hobbled in jungle fields, and it is the worst meat ever!

When Im on a heavy beef diet, I feel so much healthier. The body just works better.
They lied about damn near everything. Even the fat from beef is much needed.
Your body takes three time longer to process & digest red meat (beef). Chicken, fish, shellfish are the way to go. Mediterranean diet works for me

iick - never thought of checking that either, assumed beef was beef, not beef and chemicals.

Be sure your beef is grass fed AND grass finished.

Yes, there is definitely a difference in taste, tenderness and cooking time.
I envy you. I pay $20/lb for grassfed and $10 for conventional in shit hole California. Considering moving just to have access to affordable meat

Slap a brand on your beef, thieves are becoming an issue, especially if they’re in a small area.

Nice 👍
Whats a feeder beef?

Can you shift over to "Steering" Pedophiles? Kek! We need that!
I keep a good supply of callicrate bands on hand..

www.grasslandbeef.com - veteran owned, reliable, comes well-packed, etc.
Hmm, nowhere local to me has notably better prices than the supermarket. Better quality and prettier cuts though.
My son in law raises a 1000 head per year on a large ranch. All grass fed and grain fattened before butchering. Tastiest beef I've ever had.
For a while, during the first Trump term, my mother was buying a lot of steak.
I asked her why.
She said that, for some reason, it was cheaper than ground beef.
That's Like Chicken Wings... WTF I can Buy 8 Pieces of Chicken for 10 Bucks at Publix, or an equivalent weight of Wings for 17 bucks.

Ordered some ground round and some sirloin steaks, yum.
I guess you can say Inflation works in mysterious ways ... 🤣
https://www.eatwild.com to find your local farmers/ranchers.
Thanks for this!
I am going to order from this place!
