Iโm still using windows 7 ๐๐๐๐๐
Me too. Runs like a champ.
I installed Win7 on one of my laptops. It is an "off grid" machine. Never goes on the web.
That's the way it used to be!!!
It's amazing how fast Ubuntu is. No bloatware, and it doesn't go out on the web with every click of the mouse.
And with Windows, only God knows what it's doing behind the scenes...
They are turning the spy amplifier up to 11.
Go Linux and never look back! You'll be glad you did!
Microsoft will no longer provide free updates, technical support, or security fixes for Windows 10 after October 14, 2025.
I keep all Microsoftโs domains blocked on my router rules.

End of servicing for W10 per Microsoft: 10-14-2025
As for W11, you can either refuse the update, or you won't see it in Windows Update because your PC isn't compatible with W11 requirements.
Something came after NT?
Oh my gosh dude, I came back to this thread to check a link and saw this comment and your perfect chef's kiss of a username. Had to tip my hat to this.
Google says this was 10/14/24 not 11/14/24
Quickly, switch to Ubuntu while you still can !
Even Windows 10 Pro versions?
Can one turn off automatic updates to avoid this, or decline option to install it?
Oh shit! My computer is awaiting a restart to update now. I'm going to see what it wants to install and see if I can option out of it.
Looks like it's just 2024-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5046613) and 2024-11 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.8 and 4.8.1 for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64 (KB5046542)
Get Windows Update Blocker. I have used it ever since Windows 10 came out and my registry edits to stop updates failed to work.

Thanks mate.
See my other comment; also, here's MS' timetable:

But end of service means MS will no longer patch the version for issues, compatibility, or new function right? It does not mean that you can't still continue to run it.
The final version of Windows 10 is version 22H2, which will reach end of servicing on October 14, 2025.
If you arenโt a gamer, everything else is covered quite well with linux. A popular distro you can download for free and install instead of windows is Linux Mint.

I fire up 10 when I want to game, but have been dual booting into Zorin. I think I'll be fine when Windows decides to shit the bed ๐
Really? I have a couple of win7 machines that started bitching in the last 2wks, thought I could just go to 10.
If you have a win 10 machine, look under update aettings, you should get an alert. Gtg back to werk now tho frens
I just paused all of my updates on my Win 10 machine based on this. Thank you fren.
How would you do that unless you already have the originals?
I don't think these get distributed, sold or even validated nowadays?
PC isn't compatible, graphics card is too old. Already got the auto updater removed long time ago.
you agree to several before you even get to see the desktop.
11 sucks. I'm stuck with it.
Ubuntu says "Who cares?"
