I'm trying to understand these picks.
Kristi Noem is extremely pro israel, going so far as to pass anti-hate speech laws which IMO goes against the 1st amendment.
I don't have any issue specifically with Pete Hegseth but I do wonder why he would pick a major to be Secretary of Defense instead of a general, especially if we know there are good generals out there that aren't just for show like Mark Milley.
Maybe the better choice is not a general…..just as the better choice for President is a non politician.
That’s right. Ever watched this video? https://youtu.be/4fdS5cdtPOA?si=k1aUtn0NIuqHBKcf
The guys that get updooted put out.
The jury is still out for me on Noem...we will see. But Hegseth is just what we need, IMO. He doesn't have a woke bone in his body. He's extremely intelligent and knows the importance of getting our military back to fighting weight. He's received two bronze stars and is a true patriot. IMO rank should not outweigh ability, courage, strength, transparency, and a willingness to put America first without shame or fear of mainstream retaliation.
Noem sent NG to the border 8 times. President Trump respects action on principle in response to another State.
Hes also former GITMO
In military ranks, Major's and Lieutenant Colonel's are very interesting, because their level of command and control keeps them close to the action and close to those they command. They still have mud on their boots, so to speak.
Generals are removed from that closeness, by rule and by the scope of their responsibility, and get most of their operational info from the Major's and Lt Col's.
If you're running any kind of organization, these are the folks you want. No entitlement, have energy, know how to work, enjoy the work, know where all the bodies are, and have eyes and ears and elbows directly on their people.
My husband worked at the 5 sided building for a few years. His opinion is that the sec def is more of a spokesperson than anything for the military and pentagon. Yes, they have to make sure each department runs effectively and efficiently (they haven't for a long time) but they are there to be put in front of the press. Pete's background and his demeanor make him a great candidate. The position originally was supposed to go to a civilian. We really don't want someone who is a Colonel or above that has been active duty in the last 10 years filling that position right now if we want a change to weed out the corruption. If the q plan is real, I imagine the non tv generals will be helping from behind the scenes.
That's an interesting idea but if that were true then why was the first Secretary of Defense James Forrestal who was a Lieutenant in the Navy?
Edit: So I did some more research on this and it seems like most Secretary of Defense were not generals. I went off Wikipedia so bare that in mind, break down it below.
MIL Rank
Lieutenant x3

David Norquist (Politician)
I don't really know. That's my husbands opinion. I'll ask if there's some kind of written law or anything. We were talking about this nomination specifically because I thought it was some kind of joke at first. He likes the idea. I think a lot of enlisted soldiers will like it. There are so many toxic leaders in the military right now. Colonels wanting that first star who will do whatever they're told to get it. Generals looking for million dollar positions when they retire. It needs to change.
I think the way the media portrays some of these positions is not exactly how they actually work. Take for example the Joint Chiefs. The media made it sound like Milley had so much authority to do this and that. He was in a completely advisory position with little to no authority at all.
I say give Pete a chance, if it doesn't work out, Trump will replace him.
Follow up and I'll quit bugging you.
There's a big distrust in this country about having military members controlling the military. Think about countries where this happens ie Libya, Pakistan, Myanmar. The secretaries in these positions are generally civilian or former military members that have been out of the service for at least seven years to help keep a balance of power. They can sign a waiver and get a general approved that's active duty. Mattis would be an example of that but it's pretty rare. Take a look at the Secretary of the Army, Secretary of the Navy, or Secretary of the Air Force. They are often civilians filling these roles with no military background. Christine Wormuth, the current Sec of Army, has no background in the military. She does have two four star generals and the sgt major of the Army working for her to help guide policy. That's what my husband meant by the sec def is supposed to be a civilian job.
Kristi Noem was the ONLY GOVERNOR who never tried to impose lockdowns, travel restrictions, mask mandates or vaccine passports during the bolognavirus fiasco.

She's going to have to quit it with the the gender-reassignment for kids though. If anyone can make her see the light, it's President Trump.
Just spit balling here on the Hegseth nomination. Generals have a lot of political baggage. You don't make that rank without a lot of connections and certainly any of them will have biases if not outright past favors that are owed. This may or may not be relevant, just stating the obvious.
For the current moment, don’t get your feathers ruffled. Massy is bringing legislation to make Dual citizenship in Congress illegal. Brick by brick.
America is detoxing. When someone goes to rehab the only way they stay clean... Well they only have to change one thing; And thats everything.
Kristi is a snake. And those "anti-Semitism laws" are extremely unconstitutional
Most laws are extremely unconstitutional.
It's probably the hotness
And Kristi ain't so bad either.
//
Can you clarify?
I believe, referring to Hegseth.
He trusted generals before where did that get us?
They took out ISIS: https://x.com/drawandstrike/status/1850216151122681863
I am talking about Milley and the TV generals.
Yes but there are good generals to pick from so clearly military rank is not the sole qualification Trump looked at when choosing this appointment.
I agree.
This interview makes it clear why Trump chose Hegseth

The bill Noem signed is not a "hate speech law" as you describe. Stew Peters is not a good source for anything btw.
https://www.dakotanewsnow.com/2024/03/06/bill-combatting-antisemitism-signed-into-law/
The bill provides the most vague and useless definition ever: https://mylrc.sdlegislature.gov/api/Documents/261317.pdf
Some would say the bible itself is now antisemitism.
Alright fair, I still don't understand the purpose or benefit of such a vague definition because that could be applied to any group of people and labeled as harassment so why make a special law just for antisemitism.
I get it, skepticism is healthy.
This reads like it affords everyone this same protection against this kind of discrimination. So I wonder what the bill even accomplishes.
Pro Israel? So is Trump. Look, I'm probably the most rabid pro-Trump Canadian on this planet, but, let's not forget the Trump has a one-to-one scale life-size model of the ark of the covenant at Mar-A-Lago
Jews are not Israel.
maybe he does not trust any generals.....
He trusted some generals when he took out ISIS, I remember that story he told when they said he went over there and they told him it'd only take a few weeks to deal with ISIS vs the years long time frame someone told him in Washington.
Edit: Source of Trump talking about the generals
Though he does describe them as "central casting" but considering they delivered I think this is him saying they looked good not that they're fake generals.
Both Noem and Hegseth are featured in this short video about the selections Trump has been making: https://old.bitchute.com/video/pXWR3qKCHy5R/
well there is flynn....but had to be 'pardoned'. justly or not. no one within can change the 'wokeism' without saying bye bye to their pension. Now a free man with just as much experience, and a better soldier based on all of his medals, he can do this! Those in theater are paid more...so they like war.
Generals are already politicized and indoctrinated into the mil industrial complex. All of them are warhawks. Hegseth never rose in rank to be influenced by those things. He is young, has good ideas and is a MAGA patriot. He knows we sent men to die for a lie. This next 4 years is a house cleaning amd I believe he will do fine.
