That's a photo of a man who burned a very large bridge.
I know right. I was trying to think of a title for my post, but due to the gravity of what he did I thought it best just to use his name.
I think he should get a spot in the Garden of Heroes, because that was heroic.
He needs a place on the Champs-Élysées.
Thank God some people have integrity for their beliefs and God and will endure the consequences of witnessing these values in the public sphere— not a whole lot of men left but I think they’re making a strong comeback shortly!
Um...have you ever actually heard any of his work? He's a pretty rabid atheist. So...not sure about that "having integrity for his beliefs and God" bit. 🤨
God can - and does - use all kinds of people.
I'm sure He does.
That doesn't have anything to do with saying a rabid atheist has "integrity for their beliefs and God". They obviously aren't familiar with him.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that because he went hard after Hollywood liberals, they just assumed he shared their values.
Hey, the atheist of today can be one of God's greatest warriors tomorrow.
🤦♀️ Seriously, does no one get the point?
I watched it live and was left in awe, then I cheered.
I'm surprised he hasn't been Arkancided yet.
If you've never seen Mr Gervais' performance (as host) of the 2020 Golden Globe Awards, it's well worth the nearly eight minutes. IMHO this was EPIC !! Pay attention to the faces on the "stars" as Gervais makes them squirm repeatedly throughout, calling them pedophiles, saying Jeffrey Epstein is their friend, etc.
.

I watched it live as it happened.
So did I - not really understanding just how epic it was (with respect to the pedophilia comments), but with Epstein and some of the other barbs he threw my mouth dropped open, thinking "damn, he went there...". (I hadn't heard of Q/GAW until much later that year). Watching the PedoWood crowd squirm was great, too. Several of them looked like they wanted to crawl under the tables. Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks, others. Gervais slammed Tim Cook, too. All while smiling and telling them to have fun.
Epic. I watch this over again every time someone brings it up. This is so good to share this tweet from the man himself - I've never seen this picture before. Thanks, OP.
I have to say, I enjoy it much, much more now that I understand all the background.
Just curious -- were you already aware of Q at the time? What were your impressions when you first watched it (live)?
BTW, "If you've never seen... " was geared towards newbies. I know you've been here for a long time and I assume most old-timers have watched the Gervais performance before.
You did good, Ricky. And woke up a lot of the "star-gazing" people with that monologue.
Talk about not giving a crap what anyone thinks. He's the epitome🐸 & I love how obsessed he is with his cat... & was with his former cat.
It was an amazingly fantastic monologue, but did he get cancelled, blacklisted from Hollywood and censored off of social media? Nope. That gives me serious pause.
Meh. He was never really Hollywood anyways... he is sort of a Great Britain celeb more than an American one.
I don't hear about him in any blockbuster comedy movies or doing voice work for any of the 3 million CGI kids movies that come out every year. He used to have that going on.
His atheism is also not what it used to be either; he's softened with age I think he said as much himself
You may have been alone, but we were all cheering for you from home! Thank you for calling them out!
I let it play again and again...
I listened to his monologue. A few jets of air underneath some skirts, but far from burning a bridge. I expect his attitude is "If you don't want me, don't hire me," and he is never short of gigs. If anything, it shows that the stereotypical conformist cowardice is simply stupid.
I watched this and honestly to me it seems just like the usual stuff they do
Making light of horrendous things and having a laugh out of it, also kind of poking fun at people who talk seriously about this stuff
To the "Tom Hanks was so embarrassed!!" AlI see is he making some faces
Also the fact that this was in 2020 and nothing happened to these people because of it, plus that this dude himself is still alive, tells me its really not a "good guy play"
But maybe that's just me
His show Afterlife was hysterical.
It's a karmic reveal of method to permit only the jester to expose the king...within a controlled environment, and in front of those directed to perform reactions in the name of "acting".
I like to think that at the conclusion of the show, large numbers of the audience were led away in prison busses for a surprise flight to Gitmo. Hopefully, we get to find out.
