First thing that came to my mind: why would cows be different from any wild ruminants? If it has something to do with how domesticated ruminants are fed, why just cows and not sheep or goats? And if it is how they are fed, wouldn't then the solution be changing their diet, like not feeding cows grains and what else they are fed before slaughter, because surely it can't be their natural diet of grass? Because if it was wouldn't all the wild ruminants like bison, gazelles, deer, giraffes etc be an equally big a problem, especially since their numbers used to be bigger but have now been replaced by domesticated ruminants, while the whole number of ruminants on the planet doesn't seem to have changed all that much?
But mostly I was just pointing how damn many holes about that idea came up without even trying to think about it. As said, lots of wild ruminants, way more in the past, less now but more cows, the end number of all ruminants in the world is probably still about the same, and they all have similar digestions and produce the same damn gasses from their digestive tracks.
Can't some people think at all anymore! How the hell could anybody have believed that "cows bad for climate" thing in the first place! By this time everybody must have heard that "millions of bison in North America before the evil white people came" story about a thousand times during their life, and those damn things have pretty much exactly the same type of stomachs as cows do... hello, idiots, as far as farting and/or belching methane is concerned cow = bison, bison = cow.
Yes I know, it's not the farting, it's getting rid of domesticated animals we can eat. All this just gets a bit frustrating sometimes. Half of the time, well, more, the wannabe rulers of the world aren't really even trying with their explanations as to why we should do something. And many people still swallow it all whole.
Buffalo herds across the great plains stretched as far as the eye could see. They were wiped out in order to get native Americans onto the Reservations if they wanted to have food.
I live in oklahoma, we still have a wild herd in the local wildlife refuge. I was driving once and a small herd charged out on to the hiway and ran along side me. I thought they would t bone me at first.
Cows in a feed lot are being fattened for slaughter. Not ideal conditions there. Bred cows live on pasture, the way they were meant to live. Don't get me wrong though, grain fed steers from a feed lot have way more fat and flavor than grass fed. Not all feed lots are created equal. Smaller ranchers and family ranches care about their animals and provide bedding for them.
Cows aren't really eating what they prefer to eat or would eat in nature if left on their own. It has to do with the fact that corn is subsidized & so there is a corn glut they got to figure out what to do with. They feed it to cows, they make gasohol, etc etc etc. If they get rid of stupid subsidies, farmers would grow what the market actually demands & cows would end up eating what they would rather eat like the grasses growing in the plains. If they ate like that they would actually even fart less but more than that they wouldn't get sick so often so they wouldn't need to give them antibiotics! Not only that but grass fed meat is much healthier for us because of all the K2 in their fats!
Sometimes I think the ones behind all this nonsense WANT us to eat less healthy meat & to have an excuse to give cows antibiotics & to make them fart more. T
We had cows when I was a kid,they don't fart at all as far as I remember. And that is something I would remember. Their studies if they ever did any,are probably all bullshit,maybe they fed them the wrong food intentionally.

There are countless acres of arid land which can support grazing animals, but could never be used to grow vegetables. It is obvious. Think of cattle ranches, grazing sheep and goats and reindeer, and try to imagine crop agriculture on that terrain.
So it takes more acres to raise a beef critter? OK but it is more because it is arid and cannot grow crops.
Where are all the vegans going to get all their vegetables if there is no meat for other people to eat??
