The impression that many of us had was that it had the hallmarks of a back door attempt to build an army of federal thugs, hired under guise of being IRS agents. If I recall correctly, the job postings specifically spoke to armed enforcement.
Personally, I'd like all 87,000 IRS agents (accountant types) to be assigned to auditing every member of Congress...bounty hunting for financial misdeeds. Generous bonuses allocated to those uncovering criminal income.
