I think Trumps rhetoric is just the starting point to move the overton window. We will rebuild Gaza as he says and we will take an interest because there always needs to be a return on the investment (see Ukraine and rare earths).
But owning Gaza? Trump knows this is probably a non-starter but it gets people thinking outside the old paradigms. If Trump rebuilds Gaza, moves the people back in, creates industry and jobs, turns Gaza into a 'Riviera' -- a destination, he has created a new type of political entity that will require new thoughts on what a state is and what types of government can administer such a unique geopolitical entity.
What it all boils down to is that Trump is offering the Palestinians populism. Will they take it?
The Gaza situation is not easy but simple. You make the youngest people comfortable enough long enough for them to forget about the hate their parents and religion have been teaching them. It's a generational shift and it's the only way.
I think there is definitely a subset of Palestinians where this is true. But I also think the much larger set is ruled by simple fear of retaliatory strikes against their business and/or family if they dont tow the terrorists line. These common people are governed by fear and threat as much or more than ideology.
But I do agree that your statement does go a long way towards remaking Gaza and it will not happen overnight. It will require some generational transformation.
