From the jump I thought this whole story smelled like shit. If you take a look into the paragon of virtue (signal) "journalist" that supposedly 'uncovered' the deleted account they have tied to young Master Elez it is VERY APPARENT by her resume that she had an axe to grind here.
In contrast, not a peep has been heard regarding the hiring and staffing of DOGE as having any sort of ideological bent or being in search of those qualities. Up until this point at least - and we KNOW that the absolute favorite smear of the Dems is STILL claims of racism/ white supremacist ties.
Am I right? Katherine Long is a very recent addition to the WSJ staff, after spending the last 3 years as National Desk Correspondent at Business Insider. She has a thoroughly 'experienced' work resume, with all the typical stops at places like NYT, Vox and Seattle Times.
However before the first Trump administration she was involved with something called 'The Fulbright Program' doing research in Tajikistan (seems like she was on location there) and before that we see junior roles in U.S. State Department doing - oh, what a SURPRISE! - USAID related work in the region.
She certainly has the ideological background, it would seem, to be interested in undermining the DOGE show. Of course that's far from proof but it is worth knowing I believe.
I will merely say that I have been skeptical regarding stories about 'deleted account info resufaced' for some time now. The connections found linking these supposed online activities are oftentimes not well articulated in news articles breakinf the story.
Similar to "Chinese hackers" I wonder if there isn't a relatively simple mechanism used to tie something such as meta-data watermarks or identical IP addresses from a device to doctored social media accounts and posts, or the like. I'm not quite technologically savvy enough to dream up a methodology, but if explained clearly I could follow along without trouble - so why don't they bother to explain just what those Russian propaganda "earmarks" ARE... y'know?
They seemed quite capable of attaching a seemingly long and thorough online imprint of right wing ideology to the Paul Pelosi hammer attacker (& Russian prostitute?) in very short order, even though we know by the investigating journalists on the ground that the same person was actually an extreme left winger in his real life. That's just one example that came to mind.
So to wrap this up I just wanted to explore one avenue along which this news piece fails to hit with this post and provide some detail and info. Certainly we have to consider the actual content of the post regarding the 14th amendment (and MANY issues with it being addressed AGAIN today with fervor that last came generations ago, regarding its actual effects and the ideological principles where it takes root) and the latest news where JD Vance seemed to push back on the resignation and call for his rehire which Trump - in the middle of a press question and with no other knowledge besides JD's opinion - sided the same way. (!!!)
And there's certainly more to look at and think about as well. Ultimately these 'whiz kids' were hired for their technical prowess and we have no other signals to the contrary. This seems to have red paint all over it and I have a feeling we will get to the bottom, especially if Vance is working to figure it out.
What I saw was pretty racist, and against blacks, Indians, Jews, and Palestinians. People were saying he said it while still young, but he said the gaza stuff in December. I found it on X in one of the threads where Elon asked if he should bring Big Balls back. I think it was his name alone that saved him.
Honestly I'm not sure I would've brought him back or not, but I do know he needs to be monitored. If he says more racist stuff, DOGE will become a complete shitstorm and we don't need that. Second chances can be good, but the leash needs to be very short on this.
