Be sure to take a lot of natural anti-inflammatories, like a good omega/cod liver oil supplement, along with pro resolving mediators and turmeric/aka curcumin (Life Extension has high quality ones). Other anti-inflammatories that are great includes black cumin seed oil. Olive leaf extract may be helpful to take for inflammation as well as to decrease any pathogens in his system overall.
