a little more indifferent towards this bill / death penalty in general only because of false convictions and I think litigation costs more - otherwise, certainly the punishment fits the crime
My wife watches a lot of court and trial related stuff and literally like every day there’s another person who is being freed after being wrongly convicted and imprisoned for X amount of years.
People will be convicted of things based solely on a single person’s testimony with zero other evidence.
Based on that, I’m against the death penalty for any case that doesn’t have an overwhelming amount of evidence

However you feel about this or other states trying to have the death penalty for non homicides, they wont hold up at the Supreme Court…precedent has already been set that death cannot be imposed for non-homical crimes

I think that there must be clear requirements for the death penalty.
First, if the male is a young man 18-22 years old and the other person male or female is 14-17 years old then it should not ever be the death penalty, was it really rape, regrets or parental pressure? No punishment or minimum prison sentence.
Second, if the child survives with no physical, mental & emotional damage, then depending on how violent the sexual assault was should determine the death penalty. Life in prison and surgical castration prior to parole or release from prison.
And finally, if the baby, child or minor is killed purposely or by accident during or after the sexual assault, then the penalty should be death.

As long as It's really true and if the age difference between victim & aggressor is say, more than 10. Laws may sound great but remember that some evil people can load stuff on someone's computer without them knowing & there are also ways to twist memories in a childs' mind (or anyone's mind) There's also the case of a 19 year old dating a 17 year old.
If there are consequences this extreme make sure the definitions are clear, please. I know we are all very upset about abuses against children, as any one should be but let's keep in mind for after the pendulum swings
