There are 9 days of mourning when the Pope dies. On the 10th day is when the new Pope selection process (added for clarification) is supposed to begin. I wonder if this means on the 10th day of darkness, we get another BLACK POPE installed, and this is the moment the Pope is going to have a terrible May...the goods drop on the Vatican. Either that, or we finally get a good Pope back into position, and he does the same, working with the White Hats.

In The Philippines many people do a 10 day vigil with the deceased's body in a coffin in the Sala (Livingroom) then have the funeral having an early morning ceremony at the house, a procession to the Church, yet another Ceremony, then a Procession to the Graveyard and a third ceremony. After that another 30 day vigil at the house.
In the case of my wife's family member the house is in the Bukid (Mountains) and the Church is 5 miles away in the town. The Graveyard about 2 miles from the Church. Family is 50% Catholic 50% Philippines Independent Church (Affiliated with Episcopal in the US, and Church of England in UK)
The Episcopal Church is very similar to the Catholic church, but have women priests, gay marriage, and gay/lesbian priests.

Typically the Dongs (men and boys your age or younger) hang out and drink (not tthe. boys) and gamble with some Dhay (Short for Indhay, women or girls), also gamble. Some of the proceeds going towards the food expenses.
These are mostly poor unemployed country folks... gambling is very small amounts of money
