Easier to do now with “remote” jobs. Off gridding is hard work though. People used to do this with LARGE families. I would love to have all our kids grow up on a family compound with several homes close by and a bunch of good land!

Im fortunate enough to have had a small but large enough rural plot handed down to me, in which I built a home upon. We don't have city water or telephone but don't really need nor miss it. Starlink and cell service works well enough for keeping up with the Jones' as they say.
Yeah, its a ton of work. There's always work to be done. Our children help with much of it but when they eventually leave the nest we'll still sustain just fine.
What really breaks me down is finalizing out these last few years of 9-5 work before I retire while maintaining everything. I could officially retire now but wanna hit that 30 yr mark first to secure a nicer chunk of retirement pay. 😉

Even minimal land working can be really hard. Land is very unforgiving, and it’s quite difficult to make land work while working a day job.
Lots of people go to using things like roundup for that exact reason. Roundup is anti-off-grid, and ends up in your groundwater. Now you need water filtration to drink. Both roundup and filtration for it are not off-grid.
Unfortunately you don’t even need to be the one using it to have that problem.
Where will you get your fuel, your seeds, your equipment parts, your medicines, and so on if you can't obtain them without the mark? Also, they won't let you fish or hunt without permission now, do you think you will be able to then?
I'm only offering food for thought here, no offense or dooming meant.
Make bio fuel and save seeds already. When parts for machines can't be fixed or obtained via barter and trade then we'll go back to hand tools. Won't be the first time I've had to scythe the yard.
We're so rural there's less than 750 ppl in the county as it is. I doubt they will stop anyone in the armpits and asscracks of the remote wilderness from wading through their own creeks to cane pole fish and noodle snapping turtles. We're hardy folks, I've spent many a season eating nothing but pickled suckerfish, ditch flower salad, and drinking rain water and homemade tea.
If its like Terminator and there's killer drones everywhere scanning the skies, we'll learn their patterns and schedules and live like muskrats... and probably off of muskrats!
And if it gets so unbelievably dystopian they finally do rain on our survival parade, then we'll die with souls ready.
I'm just speculating here, I'm no expert. One thing is absolutely true here though, our souls must be right with God or we are dead already.

My take on it is there will be no financial transactions w/o the mark. No access to your bank accounts and no way of receiving payments/govt assistance or making payments or purchases.
