The same group has been running the same psyop, the exact same psyop, for almost 2000 years. They've been running a similar psyup for up to 3000 or even 3600 years or so (according to my investigation), just on a smaller scale.
The "current" psyop is presumably being run by a different controller than previously (I think and I hope), but they are using the same script as has been running for millennia.
So when you say, "Assume EVERYTHING is a PsyOp..." well of course it is. Some things are instigated by the Director by the large story arc. Some things are instigated by the Director by smaller arcs. Some things are organic, however, the controlling entity has created a complete system designed to control anything organic immediately after, thus everything is controlled and becomes part of the psyop.
Until you understand that NOTHING is organic that makes it to the world stage, you can't even begin to think critically, because all of your premises are wrong.
Agreed, this has been going on for a long time, up to 80,000 years according to some sources. I saw a YouTube video reading out a 6000 year old chronicle where the author complained someone was kidnapping their children and poisoning their river. Same cabal, different millennium.
I'd have to look at the claim (give me the link), but I'm not convinced it's necessarily the same group. In fact, there is a reason to think it is not the same group, or at least that it began distinct, though they became entwined at some point (at the time I stated previously).
The reason I suggest this is because there was another group, a family who controlled the world (Europe, Asia, and Northern Africa at least). That family (we call them the Arians, AKA the Yamnaya AKA the Scythians AKA the Tartarians) STILL runs the world, though it has been highjacked, through the Psyop starting about 2000 years, by the other group (an Elite group of Jews). These Elite Jews (mostly Levites I think, though not exclusively) have married into the Arians through the Greater Arc of the Psyop and economic leverage, giving legitimacy to their efforts, and their claims to the right to control the world.

I think that every couple hundred years, the psyop reaches the point where a lot people realize the contrived state of the world, and start figuring out the truth. The only way to recalibrate is to have some sort of reset/mass extinction event to bring about a new lot if ignorant inhabitants. Is it the ancient death cult in charge, or is it alien involvement (or a combo of both)?

Sorry to hear about your early childhood trauma.
Not so much trauma as an introduction into the world of adult matters. It braced me for the 1963 assassination and the presidential campaign of 1964. (We think Trump had it bad. Goldwater was totally villified.)
Then it shouldn't be any sort of stretch to comprehend, since governments around the world have largely been taken over by career criminals running an organized global crime syndicate built on a long chain of psy ops, that everything they put forth should first be scrutinized as a probable psy op, rather than assumed to be true, believable, or wholesome.
That isn't paranoia; it's ordinary common sense, married to wisdom and a commitment not to get fooled again.
When 90% of everybody gets that, it will be the Great Awakening.
There is plenty that is true, believable, and even wholesome. There is just a lot of stuff that isn't. It is important to be able to tell the difference. Otherwise, you get transported into fantasies about Flat Earth and Moon Hoax. Information has always been available, but it is not always publicized. Extremely good in-depth investigation by the John Birch Society, American Spectator (Clinton years), and Accuracy in Media, over many decades.
When everybody realizes that the mainstream media is not to be trusted, that will be a great awakening. But we will still have a lot to do to prevent them from taking any naps. We got here by being negligent and complacent, and that has to change.
