War is bad. That's exactly why this department should be called exactly what it is. Trump is/was right about everything. I think the name was changed following WW2. πππΊπ²
More than a name change. Signal that whole DoD (including all black projects and hidden tech) is being moved from the US CORP silo to the American Republic silo.
Gulf of Mexico changed to Gulf of America to make irrelevant all environmental laws and regulations passed since 1977, especially the onerous oil and gas restrictions put in place after the engineered BP gulf disaster false flag. The regs and laws all specifically apply to GoM which no longer exists, and specifically NOT GoA. Old Amer Bar Assoc trick used against them.
I wonder if renaming the "Department of Defense" as the "Department of War" will suddenly invalidate $Trillions in defense contracts or international obligations that specifically refer by name to the "Department of Defense"?
Since the "Department of Defense" no longer exists, all of those past contracts, agreements and treaties are null and void. Now... let's negotiate new terms under the "Department of War".
Exactly π―. Why in campaign literature they use the words stand up, instead of fight for. Standing up sounds nicer than fight. The use of negative vs. positive words.
There is a misunderstanding about the origin of the names. Originally, there were TWO departments: The Department of War (Army) and the Department of the Navy. After World War II, it was decided (1) to split off the Army Air Forces into a separate Air Force, and (2) to unify the Army, Navy, and Air Force under a combined Department of Defense. It is understandable that a less militant name might be sought after fighting the largest war in history. Restoring Dept. of War to cover all the forces could be a legitimate shift in reality recognition. (Nobody wants a Dept. of Offense.)
Gosh, dept of War sounds like the worse of the two to me.
Agreed. IMO if Trump had said,
I'm ending wars left and right. I've ended half a dozen wars since I retook office, with more coming. I'm tired of seeing our politicians keep dragging us into pointless war after endless war. We will NEVER AGAIN have a "War Department", because we don't like war and don't want war! That is why I am ending wars all over the world. I am the chief DEFENDER of our Country, and we will keep the Department of DEFENSE so named. PEACE IS THE PRIZE. Thank you for your attention to this matter!!"
...then this thread would be filled with people endorsing that commonsense, peace-focused decision. If he'd said that, not one person in this thread would be all "I want war! Trump the Peacemaker, Schrump the Schmeacemaker! I want a Department of War! War war war!!"
Agreed. They sound that way because they ARE that way. This is why they should leave the name as it is, IMHO.
Our national brand is 'We're the peaceful people of the world, who want peace and prosperity for all nations, ours first.'
Trump the man of peace is ending wars one after another after another. We don't like war. We detest war. War is sometimes forced upon us and unavoidable, but always bad.
Our national symbol features an eagle holding a large olive branch for peace with its right foot. Peace is right. Arrows, the symbol of war, are sinister (Latin for 'left' :).
Defense is normal and healthy. Defense is good. It makes people feel safe, relaxed, calm and protected. War is unhealthy. It makes people feel unsafe, anxious, fearful and vulnerable. Why name a government department after it? As if that certainly wouldn't give the impression to other countries that we really are all about war after all!
Trump is a master businessman who knows branding matters. He's had some success with it, though reasonable people can discuss room for improvement. Most of his branding experience has involved the brand name Trump. Even 'Truth' has the same first three letters! :) qeq
Dept. of Defense fits perfectly with the motto "Don't Tread On Me." Leave us alone, and we'll leave you alone. We want no part of war. Peace is the prize. Not war.
How about the DOFAFO?

Just about to post this π
That's what they should rename JSOC.

"But the reality is that war is bad."
I prefer PEACE. Can we rename it "The Department of STRENGTH" ??
Nah, too '1984ish'...

Damn right! Let's be honest and call it what it is. DoD is too politically correct for my taste.

In the 60s, talking heads often still used "War Department" or "Department of War".
