Judges need to fully understand our laws and constitution. Those who didn't grow up here with the constitution as a daily part of life but with another country's indoctrination just dont seem to grasp the finer points and think their opinion outweighs the constitution. There wasn't a hearing, there was a judicial session and the only person invited to it was Jack Smith, so I'm not sure why he'd show up anyways if he wasn't invited or had any reason to? I searched the transcript and he wasn't even mentioned or discussed.
That should be considered a resignation. If you will not appear before law makers that clearly demonstrates you no longer choice to serve the constitutional body that grants your authority as representatives of the people. You do not wish to ultimately answer to the people you have no place in our government in any branch IMHO

The 5th doesn't protect you from a subpoena. You can claim the 5th on the stand. You can't avoid the stand.
Federal judges are part of the Judicial Branch, and Congress is the Legislative Branch. Courts have long recognized that:
Congress cannot compel testimony that interferes with judicial independence
Judges are not subject to legislative oversight in the same way as executive officials
This is a powerful constitutional limitation.
