Nationwide Power Outage in Iraq on March 4, 2026
On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, a total nationwide power outage hit all provinces of Iraq, leaving the entire country without electricity. The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity confirmed that the national power grid completely shut down, marking one of the most extensive blackouts in recent years. As of today, the cause remains officially unknown, though technical teams are investigating and working to restore power.
Outages affected both urban and rural areas, including Baghdad and the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Region, which had previously been less vulnerable due to its modernized grid. Officials stated that crews are working to restart power plants and reconnect transmission lines, but no timeline for full restoration has been provided.
Iraq power outage March 2026
Possible Causes and Regional Tensions
While the official cause of the blackout has not been announced, some media reports speculate about a potential cyberattack linked to regional conflict. This comes amid escalating tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel, including recent airstrikes and drone attacks in Iraq. On the same day, two drones were shot down near Baghdad International Airport, and explosions were reported in Erbil, raising concerns about infrastructure targeting.
Additionally, a key gas field supplying power plants was suspended due to security concerns, and Iraqβs oil ministry halted production at a major field near Basra due to a shortage of tankers in the Persian Gulf. These factors may have contributed to grid instability, but no direct link to the blackout has been confirmed.
Where will all of the Iranian IRGC militants flee to? Iraq, of course.
Iraq will soon be swarming with armed, very angry Iranian militants looking to reclaim power.
Iraq will be a dangerous place for a while. The wave of IRGC militants will clash with the existing Iraqi power groups... and it will be a battlefield.
Someone of Faux Snooze had an intelligent moment yesterday. They mentioned that the Kurds (Christians) will probably be a good resource as we've been militarily, morally, & spiritually aligned with them for decades.
Well, you have to be very careful imposing different groups in the region. I believe the Kurds were involved in the 1915 "Turkish" massacre of Armenians.
Lot's of sources on this but I'm not familiar with any of them. The Embassy order is well documented but the power outage, I can't verify with a known source.
I mean, seriously, how could anyone not see a 1980's-made-for-MTV-music-video and not just stop everything to watch the whole thing through?!
Whoever thought of the whole "let's cover the camera in foil and spin the singer in circles" technique was no doubt famous until he was hired and tried the same thing again.
At that point, he was told "that is so last year" and he was never hired again.
This lines up with what u/JohnTitor17 posted here: Q Clock Suggests

"...crews are working to restart power plants and reconnect transmission lines..."
"Additionally, a key gas field supplying power plants was suspended..."
That right there is what happened. It got shut down and lines were severed.
What you got right here is a case of the stupids. Go reconnect your lines, and crank start your power plant, and you'll be back up in a jiffy. π
I think we might have less than 48 hours...

It doesn't say 10 days [of] darkness u/#q88
I don't understand what you're getting at.
Did I say 10 days "of" darkness somewhere?
You didn't but the op title does.. It's been an on going question about the "of" . Nothing personal.
All good fren. You are correct.
There is no 10 days of darkness.
In the Q clock post I did a few days ago, I showed everyone that the "10 days" started on February 23.
March 5 is the 10th day.
"Darkness" March 6.
I read that.. Appreciate your information.. Deserment is at an all time peak !
Op changed the flair now .. kek
Thank you OP for being on top of it!
For a blackout here?
Yes. In the US.
Communications and possibly electricity.
Blackout in Iran or here?
Iraq even.

Iraq has it's own Shia too, who many consider themselves Mullah allies.

Kurds occupy territories in both Iran & Iraq.
Wow, you're right:

Things are moving fast Frens. Keep your heads on a swivel!

The Kurds can be rough and ready.

But this is referring to Iraq, not Iranβright?
Oops Edited! Thank you. ππ
