It's a big world, and there are millions of other people who are good neighbors who were raised in other religions. That's true even with Muslims, as I've said -- it's just that ISLAM ITSELF is filled with exhortations to hatred and violence against infidels (and so must be reformed or removed), while TRUE religions (my usage) instead foster love and honest, compassionate behavior.
Other Muslims can be regular people. They may observe Ramadan, but at other times of the year regularly visit a disco and leave with a lady on each arm.
We really shouldn't be cheering on the obvious violation of the First Amendment here. Freedom of religion. The US government recognizes Islam as a religion, and thus it's protected under the First Amendment.
And yeah, I know that the knee jerk reaction is going to be "It's not a religion, it's a socio-political construct!"
But there is no point of arguing with me over this, because, again, the US government officially recognizes Islam as a religion. Arguing with me over the philosophy of what a religion is isn't going to change that.
It would take the Supreme Court to declare Islam not a religion to make a difference and I just don't see that happening. Not to mention if it did, it would open up a whole new can of worms over what a religion officially was.
Now, is it possible that the Supreme Court could one day change it? Sure, it's possible. But is it probable? I really don't think so.
And until then, by the US Constitution protects freedom of religion (all religions, not just Christianity, because I know there will be people piping up about how the Founding Fathers meant for only Christianity to be a protected religion. Again, same argument, the Supreme Court says all religions are protected.)
I say this because once we start vocally calling to violate the Constitutional rights of millions of Americans (yes, there are legitimate US citizens that are muslims) the we no longer have a leg to stand on in defending the 2nd Amendment.
We can't say that the US Constitution details our God given rights when it suits us, and can't be infringed and can't be changed when it suits us (2nd Amendment) and then scream to violate the Constitutional rights of others when it suits us. And for the people who say that the Supreme Court just needs to change the definition of what a religion is to gain a loophole on Islam being protected under the 1st amendment, it would be just as easy for the Supreme Court to change the meaning of what "arms" are to gain a loophole around the 2nd Amendment.
Supporting this is a horrible idea that will do absolutely nothing to get Muslims out of the country, but will 100% undermine our stance that the US Constitution is sacred and should be upheld.
The Framers never intended for the Constitution to be used as a weapon against us by hostile adversaries. Freedom of religion doesn't mean capitulation to Islam.
