Mike Lindell has recently discussed giving amnesty for illegal aliens. While this is likely going to be controversial here, this may be a good move. Immigrants fill in gaps in the labor market and often start businesses which creates more jobs and improves the tax base. I think this is good optics for the normies as well. We all make mistakes and this kind of amnesty shows that we are reasonable. What makes this even better is that if you offer amnesty, then these immigrants are no longer illegal. Maybe there is a middle ground here, where we can allow amnesty for illegal immigrants who show they are working and integrating into society. Then we don't have to spend so much money deporting them, which is sucking up a lot of tax dollars right now. The Great Awakening is for everyone, regardless of country of origin. I can't wait to see how the Dems are going to fume about this latest move, its brilliant.

Why is it outside of the question? Deporting costs a lot of money and doesn't make sense in all situations. If someone is working hard, paying taxes, and integrating into society, I think we should consider it.
Also, why does it matter if it is "fair" to other immigrants? Is it a problem if we are more generous to some, more than others? Is it unfair that one immigrant has to get work visas, background checks, and pay huge costs, while another can simply marry an American and be greenlit through the whole process? No one promised life would be fair, and some people are naturally going to have advantages. Your push for things being "fair" sounds like some leftist DEI initiative.

Illegal immigrants show drive and initiative. The real losers are those who stay home. The legal path to immigration is difficult and many people don't qualify because they don't have enough money. If you trespassed somewhere 5+ years ago, I wouldn't hold that against you. You can call it a free pass if you like. Many immigrants are the same as you in terms of having a job, paying taxes, and not using benefits.
For your analogy to hold, it would be that I trespassed, never left, and just started living in someone else's house, but if I started fixing up the place and being a good boy then I should just be allowed to stay.
I still think all illegal aliens should be deported, and if they are the kind you are describing, then at most I would grant they are still allowed to apply for citizenship, whereas the other kind can never come here again.. but I also think we need a 10 year moratorium on any immigration whatsoever. And should focus on increasing our native population.
If I illegally snuck into another country and lived there for decades, and never committed other crimes, I would never be under any delusion that I deserve to stay there, and it would not be unfair or wrong for me to be removed. I have read about serial killers living a normal family life, working and paying taxes like any good citizen. Say he lives next door to you and is scoping out your kids. should he go to prison or be allowed to continue to carry on. I know that is an absurd question, you would not want him anywhere near you. Illegal means exactly that, they entered this country illegally, that is a crime. And just because they have been allowed to have children here they are still essentially squatters, taking jobs, housing, hospital beds, food, utilities, and so forth from legal citizens.

Reagan got a lot from the amnesty actually. This wasn't a free for all like the leftists often propose. Immigrants had to pay a fine, demonstrate good moral character, and learn english. The bill that passed amnesty also introduced fines for companies knowingly hiring illegal immigrants. Reagan viewed amnesty as a good thing for hard working immigrants who had put down roots.
Keep in mind what Lindell is trying to achieve.
He is running for Minnesota Governor. You don't get that office by saying "We're going to deport every illegal immigrant". You win that office by saying "maybe they can all stay" and "i'm going to think about giving 2nd chances".

No amnesty, no path to citizenship. Penalties as a minimum, even for illegals who lived quiet lives should include:
They must report themselves and leave the country.
They can only return if they receive an approved work visa.
They are barred from applying for citizenship for 12 years or 2 times the length of their illegal stay, whichever is longer.
The second chance is based on a process that includes a deep background checks and penalties for the laws they violated by coming and staying illegally, even if those laws are Administrative in nature.

The reality is, we have no idea how they would vote if they are granted instant citizenship. They can’t legally vote now anyway. Sure. A lot of these immigrants have lived in the US longer than any other country. We can't know how they will vote, but I think the party who is most reasonable and accomodating will be the one they most likely vote for.
