Praying for peace and swift justice. I second the advice to find some good Christian music and listen for a while. Music has a way, I think, of bringing heaven to earth in a way that impacts us deeply. I find that starting with music that fits my mood first helps me get out of it, rather like the Psalms often start with some complaint of the writer, them move to praise for who God is:

Here's James 1:3 From APX (If you remembered a-ha! Take On Me, and liked the tune); https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhOyVI2e_JU

And Ps 55 From Leslie Phillips https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hOu-x8Ui3w

You're welcome. This is a fun way to end the day for me! (I usually do it a couple evenings before so it can stay fresh, but sometimes we have crazy events and then we get a flash from the past, for which I am very grateful to ashlanddog for being on top of things...

Praying! If you would like, I can also add this over at Christianity as well.

Here I go Again:

They want you divided.

They want you labeled by race, religion, class, sex, etc.

Divided you are weak [no collective power].

Divided you attack each other and miss the true target [them].

I agree. the talking filibuster has been used rightly for quite a while. Rand Paul used it to prevent drone strikes on American citizens and others have used it wisely as well. The current rule, I agree stinks, because it removes the responsibility to be able to reasonably communicate why you are opposed:

Silent Filibuster: Today, senators no longer need to speak continuously on the floor to filibuster. Instead, the "silent filibuster" allows a senator to object to ending debate, effectively blocking legislation unless the 60-vote threshold is met.

This has made filibusters more common and less visible than the traditional "talking filibuster."

That's enough to cause me to hope some dark horse wins the primary, or Libertarians get the seat. (A right leaning one would be better than a Democrat...)

And none of the others wanted to claim they were Jewish, either:

Leon Trotsky was Jewish by ancestry, born Lev Davidovich Bronstein to a Jewish family in southern Russia. He was raised in a secular, Russian-Jewish environment and was deeply affected by antisemitism in tsarist Russia, including the Beilis trial. Despite this, he rejected religious or ethnic identification, often stating he was a "Bolshevik" and not a Jew.

Karl Marx was of Jewish descent through his father’s side (However, his father converted to Christianity, which would ordinarily disqualify him, not to mention the matrilineal aspect), but Marx himself was an atheist and not religious. He did not identify as Jewish. Friedrich Engels had Jewish ancestry on his mother’s side, but like Marx, he was not religious and did not identify as Jewish.

Vladimir Lenin was not Jewish. His maternal grandfather was Jewish, but he converted to Christianity, and under Jewish law, lineage is matrilineal— so Lenin was not considered Jewish.

Joseph Stalin was not Jewish. He was of Georgian descent, and there is no credible evidence of Jewish ancestry.

Good On Florida!: Florida and New Hampshire like to take pole position for the top states, freedom wise. Oddly enough, South Dakota and Arizona also score in the top 5...
