The roll on is fine. You can use it as needed. I don't think that you can OD. If it seems to be working, I'd suggest getting the pharmaceutical liquid and taking a teaspoon per day diluted in a glass of orange juice. If you do decide to use it orally, use a real glass. DMSO will melt a plastic or acrylic glass.
It will absorb through the skin pretty quick. 15 minutes or so. White, 100% cotton socks are fine, but colored synthetic socks would not be good because DMSO caries any chemicals with it into the skin. Definitely wash hands afterward.
