I'm so sorry you were so sheltered! Can I recommend Willie's Roadhouse on SiriusXM (at the risk of someone on here not liking it!) because you cannot beat old country music. If you don't have access to Sirius, get a free pandora account and create your own station with Johnny Paycheck, Buck Owens, Waylon Jennings,, Hank Jr, and Patsy Cline!
Beyond that, please do yourself a favor and create another station with classical music!! Beethoven, Mozart, Locatelli, Vivaldi, Mendolssohn, and Chopin. Your world will never bee the same if you give them time and attention.

You know, I was just thinking about the difference between us Americans and the rest of the "world", in general. So many countries are at the breaking point because they've had enough of the communism-dictatorship abuse. We are in a completely different world here where we've created a hell of comfort. Those of us who can see it have had enough, and we will be at our own breaking point soon enough. Bit it is totally and completely different than anyone else's hell. Weird.

You are right on the policing ourselves bit. We are lucky enough to live in a town (very small, only 300 people) and we contract out to the local sheriffs dept in a way that there is never a "cop" in town, we only call them if we need them. We police ourselves. If a cop does drive thru town we warn each other and wonder why they're there. It is wonderful. The bad part is that anytime you do actually need them they don't help one bit.
Also, I agree with everything else you said as well.
I've thought for many many years that is was extremely suspicious that we never heard any news about any place in South America. Many years.
